Drs. May and Tim dive into a jaw-dropping story that blurs the line between government overreach and outright absurdity. The episode centers on Peanut, an unlikely hero of the internet—a beloved, viral TikTok-famous squirrel. After a simple post showing Peanut went viral, the government decided to raid the owner's home with a full SWAT team over alleged concerns of an illegal pet squirrel.
The episode explores how a humorous online sensation turned into a tragic tale of bureaucratic madness.
From debates on government power and animal laws to the dark side of viral fame, May and Tim unpack the case’s legal, social, and political angles. They highlight public reactions, share personal insights, and raise deeper questions about overreach, accountability, and how quickly a feel-good story can turn into a cautionary tale.

This Halloween edition of Doctales with Cocktails takes you on a journey through the strange and surreal, with Tim and May at their comedic best. From Iron Maiden-inspired intros to stories of seizure-detecting dogs, every tale brings laughter, shock, or a pause to ponder. The duo explores the outlandish idea of “skank-sensing” dogs, shares hilarious (and cringe-worthy) medical experiences, and dives into a chilling story of a British man fined $11,000 for praying silently. With a cocktail in hand, they unravel a case where a supposedly brain-dead man wakes up mid-surgery and riff on modern medical marvels, political quirks, and the mystery of brain death. Bold, bizarre, and unapologetically unfiltered, this episode serves up the perfect Halloween dose of laughter, thought, and spooky vibes.

Pam Garfield, a licensed therapist and advocate, shares the dramatic story of being kicked out of the AAP meeting.
Alongside prominent detransitioners, Pam ran a booth promoting holistic approaches to youth mental health, only to be asked to leave under dubious circumstances.
She discussed the critical need for parents to question the experts and outlined her mission to provide a voice for those harmed by gender-affirming care. Her new book, A Practical Response to Gender Distress, offers parents a guide to navigating this complex issue.
The episode highlighted the growing challenges in pediatric mental health and the importance of thinking critically in a system that often pushes children toward unnecessary medicalization.
BIOPam Garfield, LMFT, also known as The Truthful Therapist, is a licensed therapist with over 20 years of experience working with troubled teens and families. Forced to step away from her practice in 2017 due to disability, Pam returned part-time, only to find a drastically changed mental health landscape driven by mandates and unchecked medicalization. Since then, she has become a vocal advocate for parents, questioning mainstream approaches to gender medicine and speaking out against harmful practices. Pam is the author of A Practical Response to Gender Distress and is a leading voice in helping families navigate the challenges of today’s mental health system.

This episode of BS Free MD introduces a new segment called Medical Mavericks, focusing on influential figures in medical history. The host recounts the story of Dr. Frances Kelsey, the physician and pharmacologist who famously blocked the approval of thalidomide in the United States, preventing a potential catastrophe of birth defects. Thalidomide, initially marketed as a sedative and treatment for morning sickness in the 1950s, caused severe birth defects in many countries. Dr. Kelsey’s refusal to approve the drug due to inadequate testing saved countless American children from similar harm. The episode dives into the development of thalidomide, its devastating effects in Europe, and the tenacity of Dr. Kelsey, who insisted on rigorous safety studies before any approval. Her actions led to significant changes in drug regulation, making safety testing more stringent. Dr. Kelsey’s courage in a male-dominated field and her long-lasting impact on pharmaceutical safety are celebrated as she is credited with changing the course of American drug approval policies.
