It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. However little known the feelings or views of such a man may be on his first entering a neighbourhood, this truth is so well fixed in the minds of the surrounding families, that he is considered as the rightful property of some one or other of their daughters.

"My dear Mr. Bennet," said his lady to him one day, "have you heard that Netherfield Park is let at last?"

Mr. Bennet replied that he had not.

"But it is," returned she; "for Mrs. Long has just been here, and she told me all about it."

    Mr. Bennet made no answer.

"Do not you want to know who has taken it?" cried his wife impatiently.

"You want to tell me, and I have no objection to hearing it."

    This was invitation enough.

"Why, my dear, you must know, Mrs. Long says that Netherfield is taken by a young man of large fortune from the north of England; that he came down on Monday in a chaise and four to see the place, and was so much delighted with it that he agreed with Mr. Morris immediately; that he is to take possession before Michaelmas, and some of his servants are to be in the house by the end of next week."

    "What is his name?"

    "Bingley."

    "Is he married or single?"

"Oh! single, my dear, to be sure! A single man of large fortune; four or five thousand a year. What a fine thing for our girls!"

"How so? how can it affect them?"

"My dear Mr. Bennet," replied his wife, "how can you be so tiresome! You must know that I am thinking of his marrying one of them."

"Is that his design in settling here?"

"Design! nonsense, how can you talk so! But it is very likely that he may fall in love with one of them, and therefore you must visit him as soon as he comes."

"I see no occasion for that. You and the girls may go, or you may send them by themselves, which perhaps will be still better; for, as you are as handsome as any of them, Mr. Bingley might like you the best of the party."

"My dear, you flatter me. I certainly have had my share of beauty, but I do not pretend to be any thing extraordinary now. When a woman has five grown up daughters, she ought to give over thinking of her own beauty."

"In such cases, a woman has not often much beauty to think of."

"But, my dear, you must indeed go and see Mr. Bingley when he comes into the neighbourhood."

"It is more than I engage for, I assure you."

"But consider your daughters. Only think what an establishment it would be for one of them. Sir William and Lady Lucas are determined to go, merely on that account, for in general, you know they visit no new comers. Indeed you must go, for it will be impossible for us to visit him, if you do not."

"You are overscrupulous, surely. I dare say Mr. Bingley will be very glad to see you; and I will send a few lines by you to assure him of my hearty consent to his marrying which ever he chuses of the girls; though I must throw in a good word for my little Lizzy."

"I desire you will do no such thing. Lizzy is not a bit better than the others; and I am sure she is not half so handsome as Jane, nor half so good humoured as Lydia. But you are always giving her the preference."

"They have none of them much to recommend them," replied he; "they are all silly and ignorant like other girls; but Lizzy has something more of quickness than her sisters."

"Mr. Bennet, how can you abuse your own children in such way? You take delight in vexing me. You have no compassion on my poor nerves."

"You mistake me, my dear. I have a high respect for your nerves. They are my old friends. I have heard you mention them with consideration these twenty years at least."

"Ah! you do not know what I suffer."

"But I hope you will get over it, and live to see many young men of four thousand a year come into the neighbourhood."

"It will be no use to us if twenty such should come, since you will not visit them."

"Depend upon it, my dear, that when there are twenty I will visit them all."

Mr. Bennet was so odd a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice, that the experience of three and twenty years had been insufficient to make his wife understand his character. Her mind was less difficult to develope. She was a woman of mean understanding, little information, and uncertain temper. When she was discontented, she fancied herself nervous. The business of her life was to get her daughters married; its solace was visiting and news.

    还有的人把目光,
    放在了他人的身上
    所谓的幸福,
    其实和钱一点关系也没有。

    渴了有人为你倒水,是幸福;
    冷了有人为你加衣,是幸福;
    饿了有人为你做饭,是幸福;
    哭了有人为你擦泪,是幸福。

    儿女健康成长,是幸福;
    工作充实稳定,是幸福;
    家庭温暖和睦,是幸福;
    朋友真心实意,是幸福;
    身体无病无恙,是幸福;
    日子平平淡淡,是幸福,
    家人平平安安,是幸福!

    我们从来都看不到自己的幸福,
    羡慕别人的生活,
    嫉妒他人的财富,
    总把自己当成不幸的那一个,
    抱怨钱财太少,抱怨薪水不高,
    抱怨所有不尽人意的事,
    整日愁眉不展,郁郁寡欢。

    其实,
    我们都是幸福的人。
    真正的幸福,
    不是用金钱物质来衡量的。
    而是来自内心的笑容,
    没有悲伤的泪水,
    没有烦人的抱怨,
    时时刻刻都有快乐的心情。

The Second World War had begun, and John wanted to join the army, but he was only 16 years old, and boys were allowed to join only if they were over 18. So when the army doctor examined him, he said that he was 18.

But John‘s brother had joined the army a few days before, and the same doctor had examined him too. This doctor remembered the older boy‘s family name, so when he saw John‘s papers, he was surprised.

"How old are you?" he said.

    "Eighteen, sir," said John.

"But your brother was eighteen, too," said the doctor. "Are you twins?"

"Oh, no, sir," said John, and his face went red. "My brother is five months older than I am."

    You Are In My Memory

    By Shiixanzi

    A fiery heart
    Is hiden in my indifference
    I hope you understand
And just for you to understand

    I believe
    The past is worth remembering
    Because you are
In my memory of the past

    I believe
    The future is worth expecting
    Because we will meet again
    In the future

    I believe
    Today is precious
    Because I have your love
    Today

For me there always is a feeling
That the distance between you and me
    Is just like the distance
Between the sky and the earth
    Looking so far away
But our eyes are always in reach

    Probably the rains
    Are your lovesick tears
    And probably the sunshine
    Is your smile

Look the stars in the sky
Are so much like your eyes
But no matter what kind you are
    I love you
    Including the iridescent clouds
    On your face

    I am I

    Maybe there's an intersection
Getting you and me look back a thousand times
    And maybe there's an intersection
    Getting you and me meet
    Since thousands of years ago

    And in the rest days
On both sides of the Milky Way
We kept expecting all the time
    Till our eyes worn out
But we still can not forget to miss

    In the sea of people
    You are you
    I am I
    Making the darkness lonely
Maybe I wll forget your face
    But I can't forget
Your eyes in the night sky
    Flickering warmth in the galaxy

    Quietly is my companionship
    Maybe you'll forget my concerning
    But you can never forget
The swan goose in the letters
    Whispering softly
    With greetings in late autumn

    I am in your lines
    You are my afar
If our eyes are worn out
And even we are trapped deeply in miss
    On that day
    On a twilight day
    In that year
You are in the golden afterglow
I'm in the glow of the sunset

Gazing affectionately are you and me
    By chance we meet
    Warmly we hug and
    Swear never and never part
