Setting boundaries as a business owner isn’t just a good idea – it’s ESSENTIAL. Unfortunately, that’s a lesson I had to learn the hard way.
Not only did failing to set boundaries early in my coaching business steal my energy and reduce my ability to fully show up for my clients, but it also kept me from enjoying my personal life and resulted in serious burnout. 10/10 would *NOT* recommend.
However, I learned a lot from my mistakes – and so can you. Today, I’m sharing the 6 boundaries that I recommend coaches and service providers set and abide by ASAP.
Listen to this episode to learn why I’m a big believer in set working hours (nope, they aren’t just for the 9-5-ers!), the many reasons you shouldn’t give your clients your personal cell phone number, how you can ensure your clients get the best possible care WITHOUT you having to be constantly available, and so much more.
In this episode, I cover:
My definition of boundaries, why I used to think they were rude, and how I came to realize they are NOT bad and are actually *very* important [3:30]
Lesson 1: Coaches need set working hours, full days off and weekends (even if your weekend isn’t the traditional Saturday and Sunday) [8:55]
Lesson 2: Your clients don’t need your personal cell phone number [16:00]
Lesson 3: Turn off the notifications on your phone now – seriously, NOW! [17:20]
Lesson 4: Set and clearly communicate your boundaries and expectations with your clients at the beginning of your working relationship [23:50]
Lesson 5: Establish and enforce strong financial boundaries with your clients [29:15]
Lesson 6: Set the mental and emotional boundaries that will allow you to unplug from work and release responsibilities that are not yours to take on [34:10]
