  • The 3 Business Lessons My Greatest Mentor Taught Me

Have you ever had someone believe in you before you fully believed in yourself?

For me, that person was my mentor, Susan.

I first discovered Susan on Clubhouse while I was building Social Curator and trying to figure out the world of SaaS. After months of listening to her advice, I finally worked up the courage to ask her a question—and what she shared helped me raise $555,000 in less than an hour.

But the money isn’t what changed my life. Her belief in me did.

In this episode, I’m sharing the business lessons Susan taught me about focusing on the plan instead of constantly reacting to problems, deciding what to keep, delegate, or let go, and why diluted focus creates diluted results.

    And then? EXECUTE.

Because ideas and strategies are great, but they don’t change a business until we act on them.

This episode is also much more personal. I share what happened when Susan unexpectedly entered palliative care and the incredible gift of getting to tell her—in person—how profoundly her mentorship changed my life.

Friend, this episode is about business, but it’s also about something bigger: Tell people what they mean to you. Use what they taught you. And pass it forward.

Click play to hear the lessons from one of the greatest mentors I’ve ever had—and why I believe her impact doesn’t stop with me.

Click play to hear all of this and:

[00:00] Why having someone believe in you can completely change your trajectory

[00:56] How I accidentally found the mentor who would transform my business

[03:22] Why founders need to give themselves credit for what's already working

[06:29] How to decide what to keep, delegate, or completely let go

[07:14] Why execution matters more than another great idea or strategy

  • The One Skill That Makes Entrepreneurs Unstoppable

Do you know someone who can just…figure it out?

Not enough money, time, information, or resources? Somehow, someway, they MAKE. IT. HAPPEN.

There’s a word for this quality: agency.

And after spending years around successful entrepreneurs, I’ve become convinced that self-agency is one of the most important qualities a business owner can develop.

Because business WILL business. A launch won’t go according to plan. Your website will crash. The algorithm will change. Someone will drop the ball.

The question isn’t whether something unexpected will happen. It’s: What will you do next?

In this episode, I’m breaking down three ways to strengthen your self-agency: ownership, action, and responsibility. I also share a personal story about Dr. Gabrielle Lyon that completely changed how I think about refusing to accept a dead end.

Because self-agency doesn’t mean believing you can control everything.

It means believing that no matter what happens, you can control your next move.

Press play to learn how to stop waiting, start moving, and become the entrepreneur who figures it out.

Click play to hear all of this and:

[00:00] Why “making it happen” might be the most valuable entrepreneurial trait you can develop

[00:52] How self-agency determines whether you wait for circumstances to change or create your next move

[01:56] Why successful business owners find another way when the original plan stops working

[02:52] How Dr. Gabrielle Lyon showed me what extraordinary agency looks like in real life

[05:46] How to assess your self-agency by examining ownership instead of blame

[06:51] Why taking action before you feel completely ready creates clarity

[07:54] How faster decision-making can strengthen your agency

  • Stop Being Afraid to Talk About Money: Building Wealth, Confidence, and a Business

For most of my life, we did NOT talk about money. Like…at all.

So when I entered the online business world and heard entrepreneurs openly discussing revenue, investing, and financial goals? Your girl was SHOOK.

It took me years to realize something that completely changed my relationship with money: Money isn’t good or bad. Money is a tool.

In this conversation with financial feminist Tori Dunlap, we go beyond money to talk about entrepreneurship, fear of failure, and recognizing the skills you already have that could become a business.

We also dig into why a saturated market doesn’t mean there isn’t room for you. Because people don’t just buy the cake—they buy from the baker. They don’t just buy the photographs—they hire the photographer.

Your perspective, personality, experiences, and values are part of what makes your business different.

If you’ve ever wondered, “Who am I to do this?” or “What if I fail?” this conversation is for you.

Talk about the money. Ask the question. Share what you know. Start the business.

    Friend, there’s room for you.

Click play to hear all of this and:

[00:00] Why talking about money can feel taboo—and how normalizing the conversation changes everything

[01:46] How seeing money as a tool instead of a savior can transform the relationship with wealth

[03:25] Why risking failure can be better than living with regret

[04:30] How to recognize skills that could already be generating income

[05:26] Why a saturated market doesn’t mean there isn’t room for another business

[07:01] How human connection influences buying decisions and builds trust

  • The Truth Behind Building an 8-Figure Business (That I Never Planned to Say Out Loud)

If you've been listening to this podcast for a while, you know I love talking about business strategy, marketing, leadership, and scaling. But every once in a while, a conversation takes me somewhere much deeper.

This is one of those conversations.

When Leanne Lopez Mosley invited me onto her podcast, I expected we'd talk about entrepreneurship and content creation. We did—but she also asked me questions I'd never answered publicly before.

We talk about authenticity versus oversharing, why I don't actually love creating content (but love what it makes possible), how growing up with scarcity shaped my relationship with success, why I walked away from law school without even owning a camera, and the identity shifts required to build an eight-figure business.

I also share what surfaced during a week-long solo retreat that changed how I think about trust, leadership, marriage, and becoming the next version of myself.

If you've ever wondered what really happens behind the scenes of building a business—and the internal work that growth requires—I hope this conversation reminds you that success isn't just about better strategies. Sometimes it's about becoming the person capable of carrying the life you're building.

And yes… after all that, Leanne and I head into the kitchen to make my famous guacamole.

Click play to hear all of this and:

[00:00] Why opening up about the things I usually keep private changed how I think about connection, leadership, and building trust online.

[03:44] How the strongest entrepreneurs survive every algorithm change by mastering the fundamentals instead of chasing every new tactic.

[09:26] Why growing up with scarcity can unconsciously cap your growth—and the mindset work required to break through those invisible ceilings.

[15:41] The unlikely story of leaving law school, starting with almost nothing, and accidentally building a personal brand before "personal branding" was even a thing.

[26:59] How to create meaningful content, protect your peace, and avoid the burnout that comes from oversharing online.

[33:04] The leadership lessons I'm learning while building an eight-figure business—and why trusting your team is harder than hiring one.

[42:00] The emotional realization that surfaced during a solo retreat and how learning to trust others started with learning to love myself.

[48:20] A behind-the-scenes kitchen conversation filled with laughter, love stories, and the guacamole recipe everyone asks for.

  • Your Habits Create Success

If you've ever looked at another entrepreneur and thought, "They make it look so easy," this episode is for you.

Here's the truth: what looks like effortless success is usually the result of years of intentional habits.

In this episode, I'm sharing one of the biggest lessons I've ever learned about entrepreneurship—and it all started with an unexpected realization in my college cafeteria. From there, we'll dive into the psychology of habits, including the Habit Loop, Keystone Habits, and the powerful difference between your stated preferences (what you say you want) and your revealed preferences (what your daily actions actually show).

I'll also share the simple habits that have helped me consistently create content, grow my business, and become the kind of entrepreneur who follows through—even when it's hard.

If you've been feeling stuck, waiting for motivation, or wondering why consistency feels so difficult, this episode will give you a practical framework to replace habits that are holding you back with ones that move you closer to the business—and life—you want to build.

Because success isn't built by luck.

It's built one habit at a time.

Click play to hear all of this and:

[00:00] How one unexpected college experience taught me that the smallest daily choices shape the biggest transformations.

[01:44] Why understanding cues, routines, and rewards can help you replace bad habits instead of fighting them.

[04:34] Running a business isn't always fun—but learning to love the process is what separates entrepreneurs who quit from those who succeed.

[07:06] How "stated preferences" versus "revealed preferences" explains why motivation fades—and what to do instead.

[09:58] The behind-the-scenes routines I rely on every week to stay consistent, productive, and focused.

[10:37] The simple framework for replacing habits that no longer serve you with habits that move your business forward.

[12:39] How aligning your identity with your daily actions creates extraordinary business results over time.

  • Action First. Confidence Later. (Here’s WHAT to do & HOW to do it)

Have you ever known exactly what to do... and still not done it?

This episode was inspired by a conversation with an entrepreneur who had the strategy, the plan, and the next steps—but was struggling to take action.

That led me to a realization: entrepreneurs usually get stuck in one of two places.

    1. I don't know what to do.
    2. I know what to do, but I'm not doing it.

In this episode, I'm breaking down how I navigate both challenges, including the simple exercise I use to create clarity when I feel overwhelmed and the mindset shift that helps me move forward when fear, perfectionism, or procrastination show up.

    Because here's the truth:

Action comes first. Confidence comes later.

If you've been waiting to feel ready before taking your next step, this episode is your reminder that confidence isn't something you find—it's something you build.
