The government has estimated a gain of nearly ₹37,000 crore during the financial year 2019-20 through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism.
This is more than one-third of the enhanced amount under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) or twice the amount required for the Pradhan Mantri Sadak Yojana or 50 per cent of the amount provided under the Pradhan Mantri-Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is keeping a close eye on a low pressure area near the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts.
A low-pressure area had developed over the South-West and adjoining South-East Bay of Bengal on Saturday two days earlier than the IMD had predicted. It has become well-marked and is expected to concentrate into a depression over South-West Bay by Monday and intensify further into a cyclone by Tuesday.
The IMD said that the cyclone is likely to move north-westwards and cross the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram on Wednesday noon/afternoon. In this manner, the twin cyclones have catapulted the North-East monsoon to peak form.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a cyclone formation alert over the South-West Arabian Sea with Saturday’s depression had intensified into a deep depression, only a chance away from being a cyclone.
The IMD informed about the formation of a low-pressure area in the bay of Bengal indicating that it would go on to intensify as a depression by Monday evening over the South-West Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu.
