As curtains go up on October 15, when theatres and multiplexes reopen, the big question is will they be able to pull in cinema goers or will audiences prefer to stick to the OTT (over the top) platforms, where the show has gone on all through Covid-19. As we all know, lately, the pomp and glory of movie releases have been brought closer home, with over-the-top (OTT) platforms stealing the thunder from movie theatres, only for this to trigger high-decibel debates in the film industry.

A new survey has found out that the Covid-19 pandemic has increased stress among the Indian workforce. LinkedIn's Workforce Confidence Index says that nearly 40 per cent of working professionals in India have experienced increased stress or anxiety due to the pandemic. Job uncertainty, financial instability and poor work-life balance have adversely impacted professionals. This finding is in line with another surveys. 

The low is forecast to concentrate into the first post-monsoon depression over the Central Bay by Saturday. The IMD expects it to track in the west-north-westward direction and cross the North Andhra Pradesh and adjoining South Odisha coast as a depression by Sunday afternoon/evening. Isolated heavy to very heavy falls have been forecast over Odisha also on Sunday, the day of the landfall of the depression.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami will lead the AIADMK in the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Deputy Chief Minister and party coordinator O Panneerselvam made the announcement at the party's headquarters in Chennai on Wednesday.  The party also announced the constitution of a 11-member steering committee, which will oversee the affairs of the party.

Rains will perk up from Friday over Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry punctuated by isolated heavy falls over Tamil Nadu and Telangana as a fresh low-pressure area forms over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining East-Central Bay of Bengal. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is forecast over parts of North-East, East and Central India, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the South Peninsula, and along the West Coast today (Wednesday) — thanks to a prevailing cyclonic circulation over South Odisha which will also keep East and North-East wet until Friday.

Foreign ministers of the United States, India, Japan and Australia met in Tokyo on Tuesday. The nations form a grouping called the 'Quad'. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Indian Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar, Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne and their Japanese counterpart, Toshimitsu Motegi took part in the meeting.

The Indian Premier League, is being held in the UAE, but the threat of a betting scandal is looming. Even though players are in a bio-secure environment, a player was approached  for the purpose. Rainfall over the country during the first five days of the post-monsoon (October 1-5) period has been deficient by 26 per cent. But this could change soon. Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast over Odisha today; over Chhattisgarh until Wednesday; and over East Madhya Pradesh from Wednesday to Friday. Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the next five days.
