Join the BWI Live Postgame show to discuss what happened and how the team let the latest regular-season win slip away. We're live at the final whistle of the game on YouTube and will spend an hour with fans discussing their thoughts on the game while breaking down the action from our perspective.

Penn State struggle on offense in another big game
The Penn State offense failed to show up in another big game. The team gained just 69 yards in the first half and scored a field goal early in the game. Unsurprinsgly, the offense was poor on third down again tonight, going only 4-11 (36%) through the third quarter.
The offense woke up late, with a 34-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Drew Allar to receiver Devonte Ross. Penn State had the ball with four minutes left in the game down seven points, but the offense failed to punch the end zone to tie the game up.
Defense plays a warrior's game
With the offense struggling, the Nittnay Lions defense was able to keep the team in the game against an explosive and dangerous Oregon offense. Penn State gave up yards, but kept a lid on Dakorien Moore and Dante Moore, the talented duo at receiver and quarterback for Oregon.
Linebaker Amare Campbell and safety Zakee Wheatley led the team in tackles and plays throughout the game, but wore down late, giving up two touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters to give up an insurmountable lead.

Snyder wrote several articles about the players coming to campus this weekend, including the players for whom Penn State is truly a contender and those who are coming but are pretenders in the race for a spot with the Nittany Lions. We'll also highlight the underrated prospects you should pay attention to this weekend for the Class of 2027.

Join the BWI Live Show today at 10 a.m. as we preview the upcoming game and tonight's practice. Plus, we'll call out who needs to step up in this game and play better for the Nittany Lions to win.
Join the BWI Live Show today as we break down the offensive matchup. We'll go through each team unit by unit to see which team has the advantage at quarterback, running back, and so on for the offense. Stay tuned for tomorrow's show when we examine the defensive advantage.
Of course, if you join us live, you can give your thoughts on the matchup and discuss you thoughts on the game! If you can't join us live, you can always watch the replay on demand on the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel, embedded in this article, or anywhere you get your podcasts.
Penn State vs Oregon: Offensive tale of the tap
We'll start the show by discussing what Oregon head coach Dan Lanning had to say about the Nittany Lions last night. Reporter Greg Pickel will outline what the Duck's head coach had to say about the matchup last night.
Next, we'll dive right into the positional breakdowns. Which quarterback has the advantage in this game? Is Drew Allar or Dante Moore the better passer? We'll debate and discuss. From there, we'll go through each offensive unit to see which team has a better overall group of players around the quarterback.
Which players need to step up?
Saturday is a top-ten matchup, meaning that both teams, regardless of who has the advantage, are very good. If Penn State wants to win, it will need its best from many of its key players. We'll outline which players need to step up their game from the non-conference season. We'll pick three each and discuss.
Practice preview and Best Bets
Finally, we'll outline what we want to see at practice tonight and what we expect to see from the offensive and defensive fields during the roughly ten-minute window of access before the White Out. We'll close out the show with Pickel's Best Bets, including what he's picking with Penn State and Oregon.

The week that Penn State football fans have been waiting for is finally here. The 2025 White Out Game kicks off on Saturday at 7:30 against the Oregon Ducks. Head coach James Franklin spoke to the media on Monday afternoon to kick off game week for the biggest game on the college football calendar this weekend. We're recapping his comments on today's show and discussing the critical details and context behind his words. Reporter Nate Bauer joins the show to discuss that in "Between the Lines." We'll also give our first of three previews for the upcoming game, and then finish the show by discussing the Penn State offense's work to this point one more time in our bye week checkup with Bauer.
Join the show live at 10 a.m. on YouTube to discuss the upcoming game! Subscribe to the Blue White Illustrated YouTube channel and enable notifications. Between the Lines
Franklin spoke with the media for roughly 40 minutes yesterday to discuss his team's progress through the bye week and his thoughts about the Oregon Ducks. Today, we'll discuss his comments and what fans took from them versus what they may actually mean. We'll dissect his comments about Nick Singleton and the Penn State running game, saving plays for Oregon, and the team's need to start fast.
Penn State vs Oregon: White Out Preview
Today's main attraction is our breakdown of the upcoming game. Earlier this week, we outlined where Oregon can test Penn State with their speed, veteran improvement on defense, and at quarterback. Now, we're breaking down where Penn State can strike back and make plays. We'll outline the key areas where the Lions have an advantage on offense and defense in the upcoming game. Tune in to find out what we think and give us your thoughts in the live chat!
Bye week check up: offense
Of course, it wouldn't be a Penn State game without discussing the Nittany Lions' offense through three weeks and how the team performed in the non-conference season. We'll conclude the show by discussing what we've learned and how it applies to the upcoming game.

The Penn State Nittany Lions Football team has a bye week but that doesn't mean the team is idle. Today on the BWI Live Recruiting Show, we'll discuss what the team is up to this weekend, and more importantly, what the coaches will be doing on the recruiting front. With a massive number of recruits coming to Happy Valley for the White Out Game next weekend, the recruiting blitz is on for Penn State. Join the show as we give fans an early preview of who is coming to the biggest home game of the season. We'll also discuss the coaches' recruiting schedule for this week, and the latest update in the On300.
Join the BWI Live Recruiting Show today at 10 a.m. on YouTube to discuss the latest news with recruiting reporters Ryan Snyder and Sean Fitz. If you can't make it to the live show, you can always check out the show on replay either on the site, or on the Blue White Illustrated YouTube channel. And of course, you can listen to it on demand anywhere you get your podcasts.
Penn State recruiting news update
It was a black week for several schools, as Virginia Tech head coach and former Penn State defensive coordiantor Brent Pry and UCLA head coach Deshaun Foster were fired by their schools. With the changes in NCAA rules, the gates are now open for the players on those rosters to enter the transfer portal. What does this mean for Penn State and its roster? Fitz and Snyder will discuss the potential opportunities for adding players and how that process works in the current landscape.
Next, we'll discuss the most important visitor from last weekend's win over Villanova. Five-star running back Kemon Spell was supposed to join the program for the game against FIU the week before but an ankle injury prevented him from making the trip. Instead, Spell made the trip to Happy Valley last weekend. We'll discuss what it means for the team to get its top recruit for 2027 back on campus two weekends in a row.
Nonconference recruiting recap
After that, we'll transition into discussing how the first three games of the season went for the team's recruiting efforts. Snyder has been tracking who is showing up on campus for the team's non-conference games and gives us a broad look at what Penn State accomplished in the last month.
We'll follow that up with a White Out preview and what fans should expect about one week from the biggest home game of the recruiting calendar for this cycle.
Coaches on the road and the Rivals 300 update
Finally, we'll discuss the recruiting plan for the team this weekend. With the extra time to recruit, Penn State's coaches will be out on the road seeing commits and prospects. How has this changed over the previous years? We'll hear from head coach James Franklin on his schedule over the next few days.
Finally, we'll finish the show by discussing the latest recruiting rankings update for the Class of 2026. After roughly a month of high school games, which players are moving up and down the Rivals 300? Snyder outlines the biggest movers on the list.

The Penn State Nittany Lions football team is on its bye week and opened practice to the media on Tuesday evening for our weekly look at the program's progress. Today, we'll recap what we saw during the 15-minute window and what Penn State head coach James Franklin had to say after practice. We'll also take your questions in the BWI Mailbag and do a stock up/stock down report for the first month of the 2025 season.

Penn State practice report
Blue White Illustrated was at practice this week and will give our recount of what we saw, plus show you the team's one-on-one drills for fans watching the YouTube version. The team pitted its young receivers against its young defensive backs to create competition among the players battling to see playing time later in the year. Who stood out, and what else did we learn from practice last night? We'll discuss.
Next, we'll highlight the most interesting things that Franklin said when asked about his team last night after practice concluded. We'll play you his comments about the young players standing out during the bye week and what he expects from his skill players and quarterbacks on offense to help the team make plays.
Stock Report and Best Bets
We're now one month through the college football season, with Penn State resting this week after the conclusion of its nonconference season. We'll discuss the players who have improved their stock through the first three games and those who have seen their stock decline.
From there, we'll transition to our weekly Best Bets segment with Greg Pickel. With Penn State off this week, which teams is he picking? The Nittany Lions have failed to cover in any of the team's three games this year, so is this an opportunity to hit on all three? Join the show to find out!
BWI Mailbag
Finally, join us for the BWI Mailbag. It's been over a month, and now that we have a moment to breathe without a game this weekend, we're taking your questions on the show. You can submit them on the Blue White Illustrated message board, or join the show live and ask a question in the chat.

#PennState #nittanylions
The Penn State Nittany Lions football team is 3-0 and ranked second nationally heading into its first bye week of the 2025 season. Most indications are that this would be a good place to be. Yet why are there alarm bells ringing and fire alarms going off inside the Penn State fan base? Today on the BWI Live Show, we'll discuss the 52-6 win over Villanova. Then, we will discuss how the team has played through the first three games of the season to try to understand why it feels like an uncomfortable and uneasy undefeated start.
As always, you can join the show live at 10 am on YouTube to be part of the conversation. We'll take your comments and thoughts in the live chat to discuss the team's play on Saturday, and your thoughts on the team's overall play. If you can't join us live, you can catch the show on replay on the channel embedded in this article or anywhere you get your podcasts.

Penn State vs Villanova recap
Most of today's show will be dedicated to recapping the game against Villanova and how the team played against the FCS in-state program. Why did the offense struggle to find its rhythm again? What were the challenges that 'Nova presented to the offense? We'll discuss our thoughts on the game, focusing on both the offense and defense.
Next, we'll transition to the broader picture of the program's operation in the first three weeks of this year. It's fair to say that Penn State's offensive stars, Drew Allar and Nick Singleton, have not been playing like stars. Is there a reason why? We'll give our thoughts on what we've learned about the program and what Franklin has said this month that has informed our opinions. We'll also look at the Penn State defense and what we've learned about that side's progress through the first month of the calendar to assess if they're ready to take on Oregon next weekend in the White Out Game.
Finally, we'll preview open practice, which is tonight at 5 pm. What do we think we'll see at practice? We'll discuss the team's plans for the next steps in recruiting and why the team is working today instead of on Wednesday.

The Penn State Nittany Lions defeated the Villanova Wildcats in front of a restless crowd at Beaver Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions offense once again looked uncomfortable against FCS Villanova. Join the BWI Live Labatt Postgame Show to discuss the win and what you thought of the game and the team's performance through three games. We'll be taking your questions and comments throughout the sixty-minute show.
Penn State puts up 21 points in the first half
Once again, the Penn State offense failed to look crisp and effective in the first half of the game. Quarterback Drew Allar had a 50% completion percentage and only 80 yards passing in the second quarter. Much of that came at the two-minute warning when he found receiver Trebor Pena on a 21-yard touchdown strike to cap the team's two-minute drive.
The run game also struggled to blow away the crowd. Nick Singleton led the team with 20 carries before the backups came in for the fourth quarter. He rushed for 84 yards but failed to rip off long runs or break tackles. However, he did find the end zone twice.
The offense focused on the receivers early, with Pena leading the squad, tallying 60 yards on four catches, including seven targets. However, the big plays once again came from the tight ends. Luke Reynolds ripped off a 22-yard catch and run and caught four catches for 73 yards and a score.
Defense gives the Nittany Lions breathing room on offense
On the flip side, the Penn State defense was the dominant force that fans wanted from the team. They allowed just six yards in the first quarter and amassed 45 of their 69 yards in the first half on one 45-yard drive that ended in a missed field goal. The starting defense allowed just three drives that didn't result in a three-and-out.
The linebackers were once again heavily involved in the action. Amare Campbell had three tackles for a loss, and Tony Rojas had two to lead the team. Both players were the leading tacklers with 5 and 7, respectively. The duo also tallied three combined sacks, thanks to suffocating coverage. The team used both to spy the Villanova quarterbacks, resulting in late-down pressures.
What's next for the team?
Penn State enters its first bye week of the season and seems to have gone through the first three games with no major injuries to starters in game action. The team will need to sharpen its play on offense because top-five Oregon comes to town on Sept. 27 for the annual White Out game.

The Penn State football team has one final non-conference game on Saturday when it hosts the Villanova Wildcats at Beaver Stadium. It will likely be a slow recruiting weekend with an FCS team in town, but recruiting is about to heat up. The team goes on a bye following the game, which means the coaches will be hitting the road to recruit for a few days before returning to prepare for Oregon in the 2025 White Out Game. Today, we'll do an early preview of the coming weeks, plus discuss Wednesday night practice, and preview the game on Saturday.
Penn State practice update
Last night, the Penn State football team held open practice to the media, and Blue White Illustrated was there to gather intel about the team. We'll discuss what we saw and heard from the Nittany Lions to start the show. Reporter Sean Fitz checked out the defensive side of the ball and wrote notes on his observations last night. He'll discuss some of those, plus you can see our offensive highlights from last night during the live show.
Bye week and White Out Preview
While the recruiting lists to begin the season have been much better than expected, the team's recruiting intensity and importance are about to hit a fever pitch for the next few weeks. After the game against Villanova, Penn State enters its first bye week of the season. Typically on bye weeks, the coaching staff hits the road for a few days before coming back to Happy Valley to prepare for the next game. We'll preview how that process works, and what fans should expect from the next week in terms of recruiting news and visits. Is it too early to start talking about flip targets? Fitz will discuss how the process works.
From there, the team hosts Oregon in the White Out for one of the most anticipated games at Beaver Stadium in quite some time. Over 60 recruits are already confirmed for the event and we'll do a quick preview of the players that stand out from the crowded list of high school stars.
Villanova game preview
Finally, the team still needs to win against Villanova on Saturday. Yet after two games that didn't feel as dominant as they might have, will Penn State surge past the Wildcats in the final non-conference game? We'll discuss the game and the areas where Penn State can grow and learn from the schematic tendencies that Villanova presents to them. Join the show to hear more about what to expect this weekend!
