The Astros did exactly what Lou has been saying they would do all season... they demolished the Yankees in a 4 game sweep. He's been waiting patiently to let Tyler know all about it and the time has finally come!
Jets vs Patriots AND OSU vs Penn State in the same weekend? It's Card Talk rivalry week!
Also, things are getting weird.
The Jets won their 4th game in a row out in Denver, but at a major cost as they lost offensive rookie of the year candidate RB Breece Hall and their best o-lineman. Can they shake off the adversity and beat Ryan's* Patriots on Sunday?
Speaking of the Patriots, they stink! Toss in a quarterback controversy between former hobby darling Mac Jones and new hobby darling Bailey Zappe, and people are actually starting to question if Bill Belichick is a good head coach.
The Colts benched Matt Ryan in favor of Sam Ehlinger... is it a good time to scoop Ehlingers cards? The 49ers traded for Christian McCaffrey, Tyler and Ryan are headed to London for the London Card Show, and basketball is off to an interesting start.
We also have another fantastic Play of the Week segment!

Penn State is no longer undefeated, but after the Jets steamrolled Aaron Rodgers and the Packers with Lou & Tyler in the building at Lambeau, the vibes were high on a studio Tuesday!
Also, Lou's Astros await a potential matchup with Tyler's Yanks, but the trash talk had to wait a day after a rainout in the Bronx. The NBA is back and the boys are making their predictions. Disney Lorcana remains ripping hot! Connor McDavid might be hotter than Lorcana... and we dive deep in to the Backyard Breaks social media drama and give our thoughts.

Penn State, Ohio State and Georgia remain undefeated with all three in the top 10. The Yanks and Astros seem to be on a collision course to meet up in the ALCS. The Jets.... that's right.. the New York football Jets are above .500. Card Talk vibes are absolutely elite headed in to this weeks recording!
Also, Bailey Zappe led Ryan's* Patriots to victory this week, coming off the bench to generate some serious buzz in the sports and card world... but is he the next Tom Brady? Orrrrr is he the next Ben DeNucci? The boys are still talking the Panini x Reebok collab, Lou thinks Panini should collab with Dunkin' Donuts, 2022 Donruss football will include Downtown cards with a twist, and the NFL officiating has been terrible.
We also have some great Q&A from the Facebook group and another fantastic Play of the Week segment!

On this month's SlabStox Trading Card Report, Aaron and Lou discuss the market for Aaron Judge and Albert Pujols after historic seasons for both, as the playoffs get set to kick off.
Also in this episode, young quarterbacks are on both sides of a polarizing football card market, as a Justin Herbert NT 1/1 shield did $1.8 million dollars, while Mac Jones and Trey Lance investors saw a major dip in September.
Tennis got hot, with Carlos Alcaraz NetPro cards leading the charge after his US Open win and becoming the youngest ever player ranked #1 by the ATP. Are his prices sustainable?

The boys are back from Ohio after a fantastic trip visiting Ryan's shop, meeting a ton of people at trade night and hitting the horse shoe for OSU vs Rutgers.
While they were away, Disney Lorcana D23 sets continued to heat up, the Jets evened up their record at 2-2 with Zach Wilson returning, Erling Haaland remains absolutely on fire, Jalen Hurts continued to make Ryan's 2021 takes look silly, Aaron Judge hit his 61st home run (which doesn't impress Lou), the Mets collapsed (again) and basketball/hockey inch closer to returning.
We also have some great Q&A from the Facebook group and another fantastic Play of the Week segment!

After a long, eventful day together including breakfast, a round of golf, the entire crew getting to Ryan's shop for the first time and an extremely fun and well attended trade night, we sat down for a Friday night bonus pod.
For the record, Ryan beat* Tyler in golf. Jay fumbled a $300ish dollar Michael Jordan "A Cut Above" card. Lou loves Ohio and is scanning Zillow for houses. Only one last big event before we all fly home... Ohio State vs Rutgers. The battle of New Jersey vs Ohio. Good vs evil. Pray for Rutgers... they're 41 point dogs :)

Things are heating up in the sports world as October has arrived. Baseball playoffs. Football in full swing. Basketball and hockey coming back soon. The World Cup on the horizon.
Mac Jones joined Trey Lance as 2021 rookie QB's who are unfortunately set to miss a lot of time with an injury. A kid did what kids do with stickers and stuck the 1/1 Heung-Min Son 2022 World Cup sticker to a book. The Jets stink again. Trevor Lawrence just beat Justin Herbert BADLY in his building. Ryan takes all the credit for Trevor's success. Pokemon is set to launch in China and F1 is coming back this week.
Think we can pack more than that in to one episode?

What an absolutely WILD week in sports for the Card Talk crew...
The New York Football Jets won a game. Penn State won. Georgia won. Ohio State won. The Patriots won. Kirk Cousins stunk on Monday Night Football.
BUTTTT... all of our fandom and takes were not wins. Ryan Tannehill looked BAD. Tua looked GREAT. He might be battling Jalen Hurts right now for MVP consideration. Joe Burrow and the Bengals may or may not stink. The emotions are all over the place.
Also, after a devastating injury to Trey Lance, what can we learn from that situation in the card market? Disney released a promo set for their new TCG that is set to hit shelves in fall of 2023. Are those a buy? Play of the Week was off the charts good with 7 top notch plays submitted by our viewers. Who took home the POAP and will have the opportunity to participate in future giveaways and breaks like the Spiderman Metal hobby boxes we broke this morning?

These are the weeks that sports fans and card collectors live for!
NFL Week 1 got off to a flying start with some surprise early MVP candidates and show topic favorites–notably Kirk Cousins and Jalen Hurts–absolutely balling out! Ryan mans up and takes his lumps from the boys on both.
Also, as first reported by Tyler... Carlos Alcaraz is good :) What a week for him both on the court and in cards, as his NetPro exclusive release went bananas shortly after his US Open title.
Play of the Week is back with 7 fantastic plays... Geno Smith is back - "many wrote him off but he never wrote back"... Baseball is deep in to pennant races... Soccer is inching closer to the World Cup and some FIRE releases (Prizm World Cup + National Treasures, etc)... who are you buying ahead of the sport's biggest event?

In this month's market report, Aaron (@SlabStoxAaon) recaps his trip to the Dutch Grand Prix and his experience meeting a few of the drivers in the garage. Recently the biggest sale in sports card history took place. Lou and Aaron discuss this sales impact on the vintage market and what the future looks like for vintage cards. Another topic of discussion was the upcoming World Cup and its affect on the soccer card market. Currently, Kabooms of MBappe and a few other players are hot! Last but not least, the guys run through which athletes have been hot as well as the upcoming product releases we'll see this September.
