  • A New Pentecost

Julie shares her experience of being with 5,000 Catholics, joined by Protestants, at the Catholic Encounter conference held this past week end. Beginning with the history of Pope Leo XVlll declaring the 20th century to the Holy Spirit, Julie walks briefly through the new Pentecost spreading in the Catholic Church.   What she saw was conversion, physical healing, and outpouring of spiritual gifts. What are these spiritual gifts and who are they for? Every Baptized Catholic!!!!!  Listen for more about the gifts and why we are hindered from being open to receiving them.

  • It's not Christmas until.......

You all are great!  You texted your favorite traditions  Many around favorite foods which the smells, tastes, and family gathering are ways to bring us together.  Some of you reach out to help someone in need in very clever ways!  And those traditions that when you share around the family your love and appreciation for each other.

Gosia Wheeler share traditions for her native Poland.  The oplatek wafer is a long tradtion in the Polish celebration of Christmas Eve. It is a thin wafer made from unleavened bread with pressed images of angels, the Blessed Mother, or Jesus. It is blessed by the priest on the first Sunday of Advent. It is an Eucharisitic represenation of Mass and reminder that Christmas is celebrating the birth of Jesus.  The father begins by breaking off a piece and handing the oplatek to his wife. He tells her what he is thankful or asks for forgiveness.  This is repeated from member to member.     Check out our Facebook page, Catholic Women Now Radio, for pictures of the oplatek Gosia brought.

Read more of this tradition here:  https://aleteia.org/2018/12/19/the-beautiful-polish-tradition-of-breaking-bread-on-christmas-eve/

  • Carrie Gress - Theology of Home

We desire a place to find a sanctuary. Our earthly homes are a foretaste of the home Christ has prepared for us: Heaven! Authors Carrie Gress, Noelle Mering, Megan Schrieber, and photographer Kim Baile, have artfully compiled a book that reflects how to make our homes of welcoming. We may not always be able to attend the church supper, but we can make our homes a reflection of our faith by inviting our friends and family to our homes. Beautiful photography and written excerpts interspersed make this book a must-have for your coffee table.

Sonja Corbitt is a delightful guest! As a Southern Baptist convert, purgatory was new to her. She discovered through overcoming a father wound the healing and purifying love of God through her suffering. Being a Bible Evangelista, she provides many Biblical references for Purgatory. The word "purgatory" is not stated in the Bible. The understanding is what is referred to as implicit knowledge. Listen for a real treat!
