Today's show was true girlfreind time as Brenda Miller and Cathy Fuller join us at the Catholic Women coffee table. Based on the popular book, "The Rhythm of Life" by Matthew Kelly, we visit about how to discover God's plan for you. Is that dream in your heart from God? The culture bombards us with how to do everything that it is sometimes difficult to know if it is God or wishful thinking. And those pesky fears creep in... we talk about how to turn off the inner critic and listen to the Holy Spirit. Pursuing a passion can be draining and we talk about what self-care looks like for each of us and how to do it.

Connie Bruner aka Chris's mom and Colleen Hurley join us for a chat around the coffee table. Collectively these women share their wisdom of being grandmothers and passing on the Catholic faith. It was a delightful conversation with these two women. They keep up with their grandchildren via social media. These women are cool grandmothers. This show was inspired by an article about Josef Stalin's daughter became Christian (and eventually Catholic) because of her grandmothers, the babushkas, teaching her during the Communist government of Russia.

Sarah Christmyer grew up surrounded in Biblical history and richness. At a young age, Sarah would re-enact Bible stories with her Barbie dolls. After becoming Catholic, Sarah realized a need for introducing her experience and knowledge to Catholic women. In her book, Sarah takes us through the Old Testament and introduces us to the women of those times. We know about the Saints but how well do you understand these first bearers of the faith? Sarah portrays these women as relatable as they struggled with the same things the modern Catholic woman does: marriage, infertility, etc. Come and meet these women with us as we visit with Sarah and make "new" friends with Eve, Esther, Miriam, and others.

Through the training in the women's center, the first class of twenty Ghanian women graduated as professional designers and seamstresses. These women gained so much more than a job skill. Bonnie shares the story of her son, James who was stillborn after a home birth. Rushed to the hospital, the prognosis was grim. After attempting to resuscitate him, the doctors decided no more could be done. Just as they stopped their efforts, James's heart began to beat. What laid ahead was organ failure, brain damage, and a life of special needs or even if he could even survive. Storming social media for prayers and seeking the intercession of Venerable Bishop Fulton Sheen, James today is a healthy normal boy. How do Bonnie and Travis share the glory of God and keep life normal for their family and their son? How does Bonnie process that their son lived while other parents do not receive this miracle? These are the questions we asked. Her humility and love for Jesus is a beautiful witness.

Deacon Randy Kiel is familiar to many of us in Des Moines. He has a counseling practice known as Kardia Counseling. He also is heard every Thursday morning on Jon Leonetti in the morning. But what you may not know is that he always wanted to be a State Fair carney. He operates the Wax Hands booth for the past 13 years at the Iowa State Fair. Randy shares how through conversations while molding a person's hands, he entwines the message of Christ. We call this show "Fair Faith".
