Heidi and Ellen take questions from Nicole and Haley. Nicole has been an educator for the past 15 years as both a teacher and an administrator. She recently resigned from her job mostly because of her disenchantment with the system, especially after COVID.  She is looking for something new that will fill her soul and feed her family (5:23). Haley is just coming off of an intense period of caretaking for a family member. She is having trouble figuring out what is next for her career-wise.  Nothing feels right. She is longing to build a career doing meaningful and fulfilling work, she is just not sure what that is (15:02). Heidi and Ellen talk about the last two episodes of Station Eleven and the Hulu series The Split. As an added surprise Ellen talks about recipes and the yummy soups she has made this past week, including Chickpea Stew with Orzo and Mustard Greens and Creamy Cauliflower Soup with Rosemary Olive Oil. Heidi and Ellen talk to Caroline and Yhu Ahn. Both are trying to figure out their next steps forward after being stay-at-home moms for many years. Caroline is in the midst of a major transition that includes a divorce after a long marriage and an empty nest after 3 children. She would love to find work that is creative and emblematic of this new stage (9:28).  Yhu Ahn has young children. She would like to get back to her writing and feel the pulse of her life outside the home (20:15). Heidi and Ellen also talk about the movie The Banshees of Inisherin; the shows Better Things and Station Eleven (Ellen is re-watching both); the web series Grandmas Project; and the books Bookends by Zibby Owens and Unraveling by Peggy Orenstein. Ellen also reads a passage from Tarot for Change by Jessica Dore (32:59).

Heidi and Ellen are thrilled to interview Mary Elizabeth Ellis and talk about her key career moments and what was happening astrologically during those times. Mary Elizabeth is a writer/performer known for her epic recurring role as “The Waitress” on FX’s long-running hit series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Other TV credits include roles in Unstable, Santa Clarita Diet, Lodge 49, The Grinder, New Girl, and Happy Endings. Ellis was most recently in the Paul Thomas Anderson film, Licorice Pizza, and can soon be seen in the forthcoming film RedOne. Other feature credits include Godmothered, How it Ends, Masterminds, The Last Time You Had Fun, and The Free State of Jones. She has co-written and starred in many indie films, including A Quiet Little Marriage which won The Grand Jury prize at The Slamdance Film Festival. One of her favorite projects to date was the stage play Trevor at Circle X theatre with Jimmi Simpson and Laurie Metcalf which returned her to her theatre roots. And yes, that was her as the murderous daughter-in-law Kimber in Taylor Swift's "Anti Hero" music video. 

Heidi and Ellen welcome Aquarius the sign of the Water Bearer. It is a lovely sign filled with creativity, freedom, and gathering. Under Aquarius, we ask: What is your unique gift to share with your community? What group endeavors will you join for the betterment of us all? What problem could use a little healthy detachment and perspective in your life? They talk about the life and death of Aquarian Lisa Marie Presley. Heidi reads the beautiful poem by Naomi Shihab Nye, Gate A-4.

Heidi and Ellen celebrate their 100th episode. They look back and forward and share their gratitude for each other and their wonderful community. They talked about all the movies they have watched this holiday season: Emily in Paris; The Glass Onion; Knives Out; Tar; Emily the Criminal; She Said; Holding Moses; Pelosi in the House; Chefs Table: Pizza (9:30). Then they took questions from Kari (19:47) and Phillip (27:37). Kari feels a change in the air. She wants to pivot to a new job. And she really wants to move to England.  She has felt that calling for a long while and just doesn’t know if it is feasible. Phillip was featured in a previous episode.  Since the last call, he has left his job in tech and has been nurturing his creativity. He fell in love with ceramics and would love to pursue it further. He worries it will not be lucrative and yet is hesitant to go back to tech. To end the episode, Heidi reads the beautiful poem Kindness by Rosemary Wahtola Trommer (42:20).

Heidi and Ellen had the absolute honor and privilege to interview Shannon Watts, the founder and a full-time volunteer with the nation’s largest grassroots group fighting against gun violence, Moms Demand Action. Together, they looked at the major career events in Shannon's life, starting from the fateful day, December 14th, 2012 when the heartbreaking and tragic school shooting took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Shannon was moved to reach out via a small Facebook post to other moms who were also outraged by the tragedy and the rest is history. With nearly 10 million supporters and a chapter in every state, Moms Demand Action and its partner, Everytown for Gun Safety, have stopped the NRA’s priority legislation in statehouses roughly 90% of the time, and passed hundreds of gun safety laws across the country, changed corporate policies and educated Americans about secure gun storage. This grassroots movement helped break through the logjam in Congress and pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the first gun safety bill in 26 years. Shannon is also active in recruiting and training women to run for office at all levels of the political spectrum.  She was named one of Glamour’s 2022 Women of the Year and her book, Fight Like a Mother: How a Grassroots Movement Took on the Gun Lobby and Why Women Will Change the World, was released in May of 2019.

Heidi and Ellen take questions from Sue-Kate and Kate. Both have many Scorpio placements. Sue Kate is an actor, writer, and filmmaker. Her last few years have been filled with lots of flow. She asks how to raise her visibility moving forward (11:40). Kate is embarking on a new life adventure. She is starting business school in the spring but first, she wants to learn about commercial real estate- specifically adaptive reuse projects.
