On Saturday, Nik was over at Soldier Field for the beer and bacon classic while Brad checked out the Logan Square Beer Fest. Brad also talks about another Evanston bike ride, hitting up Smylie Brothers, Sketchbook & Temperance.    This coming weekend is the Great American Beer Festival so it might seem a little light on the beer events in Chicago. After a short break Brad Chmielewski & Nik White are back with a new episode of Chicago Beer Pass! There is a lot to talk about since they had two weeks of beer drinking in Chicago and across the United States to chat about. Going along with the episode, the guys are drinking a few bottles of Yuzu Fierce from Off Color Brewing. It’s really sad to see summer ending but that means you’ll be spending more time inside drinking. The big event this weekend is Riot Fest but there are a few other events happening around town. Saturday, September 17th there are two Oktoberfest events, one at Burnt City and the other at BuckDown Brewing. If that wasn’t enough Oktoberfest fun for you, you can all check out Little Goat at 3:00 PM on Sunday for a selection of Oktoberfest brews from Half Acre Beer Company, Revolution Brewing, Goose Island, Firestone Walker Brewing Co., Great Lakes Brewing Company and Urban Chestnut Brewing Co! This week on Chicago Beer Pass, Brad Chmielewski & Nik White open a 9% ABV Old Ale from Forbidden Root. They sip on it as they dive into their past couple weeks of beer adventures. Since they had a guest on the last episode they both have quite a few adventures to talk about. Nik recently took a trip to bourbon country and Brad made a few visits to Exit Strategy and All Rise. It’s an odd time of the year as it seems there aren’t too many events happening, possibly because everyone is ramping up for Oktoberfest events. But there is one event that you should check out for sure; Summer Crushes with Good Beer Hunting at 5 Rabbit. This event kicks off at noon and will feature some of the best fruit-infused, and fruit-fermented beers around, as well as some new one-off experiments.    There has also been a few beer industry shake ups recently so the guys dive into that in their beer news segment as they wrap up the show. The guys dive into the story of Burnt City and how it rose from the ashes of Atlas Brewing at the end of 2015. Since this re-launch the brand seems even stronger and the beers are looking and tasting great. If you can make it to the BrewPub on Lincoln, do it. Otherwise make sure you pick up some cans, which should be available all over the Chicagoland area. We’re just a couple weeks from the Great Taste of the Midwest but there are still a number of events happening that you should be checking out. Two of those events are happening on Saturday, Aug 6th. One is the Deschutes Street Pub happening in Logan Square from 2 - 10 PM. Then over in the South Loop is the BrewFest Partners Beer & Cider Fest. As the guys sip on these funky beers, they chat about Brad’s bike ride to Evanston to drink at Sketchbook Brewing Company and Kerry’s visit to Cruz Blanca Cervecería.  We’re seeing the summer starting to draw to a close and with it there seems to be less and less beer festivals. Then, next week on Wednesday, July 27th at Kaiser Tiger is the Two Zwickels event featuring beers from Metropolitan Brewing and Off Color. As the guys sip on this Bière de Garde, they chat about a recent visit to Hopewell and Three Floyds. Then coming up this weekend you have a couple of great festivals happening. Pitchfork is in Union Park again and you can always count on Goose Island to show up with some great beers for the crowds. Out in Naperville is the 4th Annual Naperville Ale Fest.
