This week Brad Chmielewski & Nik White are drinking from the crowler that Brad picked up at Noon Whistle over the weekend. Over the last week the guys were pretty busy with the “on the road” episode, a visit to Noon Whistle and sipping on some Vodka. The big event happening this coming weekend is Dark Lord Day but there are still a few other events happening around Chicago if you weren’t able to pick up tickets. April 30th at Fischmans Liquors and Tavern from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm is ale Pauper Day with Mikerphone Brewing & Slapshot. Then on Monday, May 2nd is the Atlas Irish Wake. All three of these spots are in the gold coast / river north area and are not more then five minutes apart by foot. This week Brad Chmielewski & Nik White are once again sipping on some cans of Revolution beer but this week they have the Galaxy Hero as they chat about their past week drinking around Chicago. Over the past week, Nik made it out to the casino and made a stop at Sheffields for some Goose Island beers. Brad was on the move as well making a stop at Corridor for some Crowlers that quickly got drank on the bus ride to the Chicago Fire game. As Chicago Craft Beer Week gets closer there are great events happening all the time. On Wednesday, April 20th at Clark Street Ale House is The Maine Event. Coupling tasters from the Maine-produced Allagash brewing along with the delectable offerings from Happy Lobster, a Chicago food truck specializing in creative ways to serve the crustacean.  Then on April 23rd from 1 - 5 PM in Kenosha, WI is the Dairy State Cheese and Beer Festival. If you’re looking for a way to kick off your week then on Monday, April 25th get ready for Bangers & Lace Wild Game BBQ Dinner at Temperance Beer Company. All that and more on this weeks episode. Also in the suburbs on Saturday is the Three-Year Stone Brewing IRS Audit w/ Cookout on Wheels at Plank Road Tap Room in Elgin. Then back in Chicago on Sunday, April 17th is the Revolution Craft Show at the Revolution Tap Room and the 20 year Anniversary of Fischman Liquors & Tavern. Kicking things off, Nik talks about his visit to the Off Color Bottle Shop to pick up Alfalfa Kang, a beer that Brad thought was an April Fools day prank. Brad also shares about his trip to the new Haymarket Brewery that will be opening in Bridgman, Michigan. There will be an episode of Hop Cast coming soon about this so keep an eye out. On the way back from Michigan he also made a stop at 18th Street for a beer or two. Hope your calendar is free this weekend because there are some pretty great events happening around Chicago. In Lombard on Saturday at Noon Whistle Brewing is having a release party for their Opus One Barrel Aged “Swanky Smack” Red Sour. For this final episode of March they have a guest joining them, it’s Clint from Lake Effect Brewing. Clint brought with him three different beers that they’ve been brewing and shared with the guys a few of the projects they are working on. These are some tasty beers and it’s awesome to hear the story behind these beers especially from someone who’s been working in all the different aspects of the brewery. The story behind the beer has a lot more weight when you know the brewer, the salesman and the delivery driver. There are a few events happening this weekend you might want to check out. Saturday, April 2nd in Mundelein, Tighthead Brewing Company is having the grand opening of their new tap room. And then Sunday in the city at Headquarters is the 2016 Firkin Fest. While Brad was out at the Two Brothers Tap Room drinking and picking up the False Dichotomy six pack, Nik was off enjoying some cocktails around the city. Both Brad and Nik are going to be out of town for a couple weeks. So Chicago Beer Pass may not be back for a few weeks. Since the guys will be gone they covered more than just the upcoming weeks events. First off, on Saturday March 12th is Stout Fest at Goose Island Clybourn. Sadly tickets might be sold out for this event but you can still get tickets for The Chicago Beer Festival that’s happening at the Field Museum on March 26th. All that and more on this weeks episode. Again the guys pull out a beer from the cellar, this time a Bells Expedition Stout dating back to before batch 9000. Coming up this week on Thursday the 18th at Bottles and Cans is the Alarmist Brewing Entrenched IPA Cans Debut. If you can’t make it to this event, a couple days later on the 20th at Emporium Logan you can crush cans with the Alarmist Brewing guys. Also happening this week, the door at the Forbidden Root Brewpub opens on Chicago Ave. And be sure to get your tickets for Day / Night of the Living Ales happening on March 5th.
