As the Chief Community Officer at Commsor, Alex Angel is a community-management expert for online environments. She manages a community of community managers. Accordingly, she helps define best practices and guidelines for her entire industry along with industry colleagues (who are part of her community.)

Alex previously worked at Reddit and Nike, and did community management consulting.

Community managers ensure community health for private, online communities established by a business or a brand.  Responsibilities include: transformation, amplification, engagement, and retention.

The community management field is growing and there is a lot of opportunity. Many community managers got into the industry by chance or because they were already managing other communities unpaid and learned it could be a career. 

It may be a good fit if you're a generalist that is good with transition, has strong written and verbal communication skills, enjoys planning and strategizing, is tech-savvy, and you have strong personal boundaries and analytical skills.
