Devotions by Christian Outdoors

We have some exciting news to bring to you here from the studios of Christian Outdoors Podcast.

In an effort to bring more content to our large listener base and simultaneously be true to the mission of Christian Outdoors. I am excited to announce that beginning July 3, 2024, we will be releasing additional BONUS episodes on Wednesday's to compliment the Monday releases.

As has been our focus since inception, Mondays are typically geared towards interviews with prominent stake holders in the outdoor space. We will continue that mission. Wednesday episodes will be titled, “Devotions by Christian Outdoors”. These episodes will be around 15 minutes in duration and are designed to help you the listener with your daily walk with Christ. While brief in duration, the content will be poignant, direct, and help you get through your day as a follower of Christ.

To begin these weekly devotions, I will focus on a book that is currently in the works I am titling; “The Making of a Disciple – 12 steps to becoming a Disciple of Christ” The first 12 episodes will be a synopsis of each chapter of the book and build on one another. It is my hope that you will find these enlightening, entertaining, and encouraging as you enjoy your journey with Christ.

Not many people get to experience the fullness of the Alaskan wilderness and the granduer of God's creation. Today's guests gets to do both! Ben Pettway and I met at a Wild Game Dinner where I was the Keynote speaker. After the show, he introduces himself and tells me he is a guide for moose, Dalls Sheep, Inland grizzly and coastal brown bears in Alaska. 

After talking to him for a while and seeing his passion for Jesus, I knew I needed to get him on the show. In this show we breakdown the life of an Alaskan big game guide and his life as a guide and his passion for Jesus. It is one of my favorite episodes listening to how he hunts, and shares Christ along the way. 

What is happening to the Wild Turkey? Why is the population in decline? How can we save the Wild Turkey? What can I do to help the turkeys in my area? This and more are discussed this week as we have who is considered by most as the foremost knowledgeable person about the wild turkey in America. Dr. Mike Chamberlain. Dr. Chamberlain and I discuss an array of topics about the wild turkey, from habitat decline, to predation, nesting habits, and more as we dive deep into the life and future of the wild turkey in America. 

Considered by many to be America's greatest game bird, the wild turkey for many of us has captured our soul and penetrated us in a way that is hard to describe. Dr. Chamberlain is among those who has spent most of his career studying and learning from teh wild turkey. We discuss the science, and the habits of turkeys and those who pursue them. This is a great show as we also learn about how Dr. Chamberlain connects wiht God in the great outdoors.

Ted Nugent, Uncle Ted, Motor City Madman, The Nuge! Regardless of what you call him, Ted Nugent is a voice crying in the wilderness for the God given American rights. He is as passionate as anyone I have ever known or met. His knowledge, of all things related to the outdoors, adn politics are second ot none. And his ability to vocalize them in an entertaining, but poignant manner is something that resonates with many Americans. 

As the voice for protecting the 1st and 2nd amendment rights of all Americans Ted Nugent can and does "say it like it is" and for many folks, that is exactly what we want to hear and know. 

Today, I press Ted on his stance on the God given right to hunt, his faith in God, and his passion for conservation and for protecting the rights of Americans everywhere.

What is it like for a woman to leave all she knows and move to Seward, Alaska? 

Growing up in Oregon, Heather Blair only knew that world. A dedicated follower of Christ, she was diligent in seeking someone God had for her. As so often happens in relationships, it was a "happenstance" meeting of two diverse individuals that turned into a life together in Seward, Alaska.

In 1986, seventeen year old Chad Waligura was having a normal day with his friends. Swimming, laughing and more until he dove into the pool and struck the bottom, breaking his neck at the C7.

Before anyone noticed he was at the bottom, Chad drowned...adults at the event went into action pulled him from the water and resuscitated him, bringing him back to life. 

3 weeks later he was in the woods chasing deer. Today, Chad has a respectable resume as an outdoor writer, television show host and more. In this episode we dicsuss his injury, and how he has not allowed it to stop him from chasing his dreams of hunting and fishing.

Electric bicycles have taken over the backcountry. Hunters and anglers can now access areas that were previously unreachable. Today we talk with Bryan Child and Dave Anders of Bakcou bicycles and learn everything there is to know about E-Bikes. 

laws, policies, and the different types of bicycles they make from chain drive, to hub motors and more.

Is it a walk in the woods, or are we hiking? There is a difference, and today we are joined by John Felton from the Instagram and YouTube channel "As the Crow Flies Hiking" John is a passionate backpacker and hiker from Birmingham, Alabama. He hikes primarily in the southeast, but travels west annually to hike some of the beautiful areas in the western parts of the USA.
