It's a God Thing!

This is the message behind Dead End Game Calls. Mitchell Johnston is the creator and believer behind Dead End game Calls. A World Champion turkey Caller, as well as an evangelist for the Gospel of Christ, Mitchell has one focus and that is to use his talents to further the kingdom of God.

As unorthodox as it may sound, God can and does use us where we are if we allow it. Mitchell Johnston is a good example of how God uses a maker of turkey calls and other game calls to spread the gospel to the world. Today we learn all about the foundation of Dead End Game Calls, and the mission as they push forward.

The Dead End brand of products was founded from the love of pursuing the Creation of the Creator! At Dead End, we believe in the lifestyle of the outdoors and we "LIVE THE LIFESTYLE" every day! We understand that each time you are outside enjoying the creation, whether with a family member, a friend or just time alone, you are building memories. We take pride in designing and building products that help our customers create memories in God's great outdoors that will last a lifetime! We understand how much those times mean to you because they mean the same to us!

This week's devotion focuses on staying faithful where you are. This is often easier said than done but our lives will be more effective when living faithfully where we than longing to live faithfully somewhere else.

Ben Klusmann has a passion for his home state of South Dakota and wants to share it with everyone he can. Thus, So Dak Horizons was born. Ben spends his days hunting, fishing and exploring his home state of South Dakota for everything that he can.

I have to say, personally, I have to agree with him that South Dakota is one of the most overlooked gems of a state. Its terrain is breathtaking, the animals are abundant and the people are as kind and genuine as any I have found outside of the south.

Today we talk with Ben about his passion for South Dakota as well as his passion for his faith and how he uses his platform to share those two passions.

First off, I'd like to apologize for not getting the devotions up the last few weeks. We have had some technical difficulties that altered our ability to upload.

This episode was uploaded several weeks ago after Jon got home from his time away in the mountains.

House in the Woods is a nonprofit organization offering outdoor programs to bring together small groups of active military, veterans, and their family members to relax, share, bond, and deal with the stress, loss, grief, and other emotions which can haunt the grieving soul.

We offer canoeing, kayaking, hiking, hunting, fishing, nature tours, campfires, swimming, wildlife identification and spotting, and other natural Eastern Maine resource "treasures" God has given our beautiful state to enjoy. As participants face the outdoor challenges presented by Mother Nature herself, they will have the opportunity to share laughter, memories, sorrow, service, and pride, among many other common.

Paul and Dee House founded House in the Woods after their son, Sgt. Joel A. House, was killed by a roadside bomb while serving in the Army in Iraq. Their vision for House in the Woods began shortly after attending the military memorial service at Fort Hood, TX for Joel and 19 other soldiers from his army base who died the same month as their son. It was both emotionally overwhelming and comforting to be around so many families who were experiencing the same grief and loss. They dreamed of creating a program using Maine's outdoor resources that would help military families support one another.

Paul is a life-long Maine woodsman and Maine Master Guide. Dee is a former Navy "brat" who grew up in military housing and schools during the Vietnam War era.

But there is a lot more to the Taurus family and today we will learn more about Heritage Manufacturing, and Rossi Firearms. The discussion goes into detail of how all three brands are meeting the market demand for specific firearms in the industry.

It is a sad reality in today's world that churches must begin to take action to protect their members and staff from violence. As I write this, the news came out of another shooting at a church in Lexington, Kentucky.

Kris Maloney saw this need a few years ago, and using his military and Law Enforcement training began teaching churches how to protect their members and staff. This local assistance has transformed into a full ministry and business.

Sheepdog Church Security was founded to provide excellent training to churches across the country. From identifying your team(s) to range time and becoming proficient with your weapon Through both online and inperson training, Kris instructs church volunteers how to recognize a possible threat, how to patrol the parking lots, doors, grounds and more. His business trains churches how to identify and stop a possible attack.

This episode is intresting and insightful as Kris tells us the imnportant aspects of being prepared adn being safe while we worship.

Anyone who has hunted turkeys in the Southeast for any period of time has seen a sharp decline in the huntable population of the wild turkey. I was fortunate enough to grow up in the good old days of the wild turkey here in South Carolina. Spring mornings filled with thunderous gobbles from 7-10 different birds every morning was heaven for this hunter.

Today, those same woods are silent. What happened? This is the question we are attempting to address in this episode. Today we have Travis Sumner back with us to discuss the decline of the turkey in the southeast. His knowledge, experience and land management practices have created a reputation as one of the most knowledgeable people on this topic.
