On March 24, 2020, the world of horror lost an icon in Stuart Gordon. Long revered for his subversive and often hilarious films, Gordon is well deserving (and overdue) for an induction into the Psychotronic Hall of Fame.

Following the success of RE-ANIMATOR, Gordon — along with producers Brian Yuzna and Charles Band — turned his attention to another Lovecraft adaptation: FROM BEYOND.

May 23, 1980 marked the release of Stanley Kubrick's THE SHINING. Disliked by Stephen King, on whose novel it was based, and dismissed by critics at the time of its original release, 40 years later, the film is considered one of the greatest horror movies of all time.

Nearly four decades after the release of Kubrick's classic, Mike Flanagan's DOCTOR SLEEP, based on King's 2013 novel, dared to revisit the world that Kubrick created. On this episode, we'll delve into the origins of King's sequel, Flanagan's film, and how the final product turned out. Joining us on this episode is friend of the show Todd Davis!

This month marks the 40th anniversary of Sean S. Cunningham's FRIDAY THE 13TH, a film that was created to capitalize on the success of John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN, but ended up inspiring a slew of imitators itself.

One of the films that FRIDAY THE 13TH inspired came well after the 80s slasher boom and even well after the slasher revival of the late 90s had died out. In 2006, writer/director Adam Green promised a return to "old fashioned American horror" with HATCHET.
