On July 12, 1922, 20-year-old widow Alberta Meadows was bludgeoned to death on a desolate road just outside Los Angeles. Her attacker would garner more media attention and public interest than the victim herself. It was a case that would continue to receive national coverage for decades to come, and the press named the killer “Tiger Woman” due to the brutal nature of the crime.
