Conner catches up with surf legend, core lord, filmmaker, and all-around waterman Keith Malloy over a Cerveza on the 805 Beer Cold Beer Surf Club. The fearless aerialist and one of surfing’s most electrifying talents joins Conner Coffin in the new home for CBSC - Conner’s garage. From winning STAB High Japan 2024, to filming his profile piece, SKINNY MEAT HEAD, with Dane Reynolds and Chapter 11, to tackling the first-ever Natural Selection Tour, Eithan takes us behind the curtain on a whirlwind of a year. He breaks down the mental game of heats vs. free surfing, what it takes to rise through the ranks, and how to keep charging—even while surfing through gnarly injuries, shoulder dislocations, a torn meniscus, and a broken toe. Eithan shares wild tales from the road, including an unbelievable experience with legendary boat captain Martin Daly that starts with a boat collision and ends with Martin diving in himself to repair the boat. Eithan also reveals the most painful and traumatizing injury of his life: a brush with the notorious Gympie plant. 805 Authentico, musician, and singer-songwriter Jake Smith AKA The White Buffalo swings by WSL HQ to join the Cold Beer Surf Club. Jake discusses his surf upbringing, connections with the Malloy brothers, and transition from playing division one baseball to being a professional musician. He reflects on his starving artist's struggle from living with his parents and waiting tables, to his music being featured in Shelter, Sons of Anarchy and selling out shows across the globe. He explains how he would call restaurants and different venues, playing a song on their voicemail in hopes of getting booked there. Sublime frontman, musician, and son of the late and legendary Bradley Nowell, Jakob Nowell, joins the 805 Cold Beer Surf Club. Conner and Jakob talk about growing up in Long Beach and O’ahu, and how his upbringing inspired his music. He reflects on his father’s legacy with Sublime and the responsibility he feels to honor him as the new frontman of the legendary and beloved So Cal band. He describes performing in front of the biggest crowd he’s ever done at Coachella, their new hit single “Feel Like That,” and looking forward to performing at the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach. He discusses the duty he feels to Eric and Bud as the original members of the band to carry the torch despite originally not wanting to go down this path with Sublime. 805 Beer Authentico, Lakey Peterson, joins the Cold Beer Surf Club. After just barely missing the cut on the CT this year, Lakey cruised up to WSL HQ in El Segundo, CA to catch up with Conner. They reflect on growing up in the 805 and Lakey’s decision to move down to San Clemente. They reminisce on their NSSA days, and froth over Lakey’s pivotal frontside air to win the National Championships at Trestles in 2014, to working with Carissa Moore and Coco Ho in Nike’s celebrated film Leave A Message. They discuss how much the level on the women’s side has increased, even on the Challenger Series, and how that inspires Lakey to keep up. She talks about how even after 12 years on tour, she still feels like she has so much more to give, and wants to keep pursuing a World Title. She and Conner share stories about working with Glenn “Micro” Hall, and how much his coaching and mentorship has helped them both on and off the tour. They talk about Pipeline experiences, injuries, splitting her time between San Clemente, Santa Barbara and Bells Beach, what’s next for her in her surf career, and her advice for young groms.
