Lisa has worked in the field of addiction and trauma since 1994. She is driven by the passion to support persons as they journey toward resolution from the inside out. Her clinical expertise is in the treatment of sexual addiction, trauma, other addictions. She's worked as a pastor, leadership development consultant, and public speaker in a variety of venues. Her passion for what she does, makes her a dynamic and compassionate therapist and an engaging speaker who connects as easily with an individual as she does with a large audience.

Lisa and Sarah discuss their mutual, deep desires to do "the work;" how to slow down in order to experience who we really are; and the calling of being a therapist.

  • 057 - Lauren Henley - Individualized Curriculum

Lauren has spent the last 15 years standing for justice and equity as a teacher and middle school Principal on the Westside of Chicago. Her passion and commitment undermine systematic oppression, ironically, became an awakening to the unconscious oppression inside herself. Lauren considers herself an Oracle, Truth Teller, Healer and Coach who uses her own path to support the conscious evolution of humanity.

Lauren is not a healer, but a waker! She and Sarah discuss the ideas of awakening and transformation; the systems of oppression that perpetuate bias, prejudice and racism; and ultimately focus on what is beautiful, not what is broken.

  • 056 - Beck Gee-Cohen - Don't Yuck Someone's Yum

Beck has a passion for working with the LGBTQ+ community and has written articles and papers directly addressing the need for training staff on LGBTQ+ communities. Beck has spoken nationally at various conferences regarding LGBTQ+ communities. He has over 12 years of personal recovery and continues to address concerns of equality and acceptance of LGBTQ+ in sober communities.

Beck shares his road to sobriety and the multiple ways in which he has come out over the years (sober, gay, and trans). Beck and Sarah discuss trauma, mental health, addiction and sobriety, but with their own unique ways of seeing the world...a little bit of sarcasm and a whole lot of laugher.

About Conversations With a Wounded Healer

From the publisher's feed

Who's a wounded healer? It's any one of us who works in a caring profession and is bravely doing their own work, while helping others. My goal is to share the parallel journey we as healers walk along with our clients and how we attend to our own humanity while caring for others.
