Narcissists in Divorce: The Narcissist Trap

Conversations with barrister Nicholas Wilkinson - Part 2

Listen Later

Barrister Nicholas Wilkinson, from leading London chambers One Hare Court, shares his thoughts in part two of this episode. Nick has a wealth of experience in dealing with cases involving narcissists, and has been the instructed barrister in a number of high profile cases. He recently successfully represented Princess Haya of Jordan in the High Court during her divorce from the Ruler of Dubai. In this episode Nick runs through the specific considerations that are necessary when  cross examining a narcissist on the witness stand, and gives his tips for how to do so. They also discuss the use of terms such as 'gaslighting' in court and why a narcissist's bad behaviour will not usually be relevant in determining a financial settlement.
