In all reality, I could have published this episode on Thursday and had it BEFORE the Husker women’s basketball team played Purdue.

But I 100% wasn’t that smart. That’s on me. As we got recording, and I said on the show “of course this will drop after the Purdue game,” it was locked in. So apologies and such.

In this episode, Jill Heemstra joins us and we talk about bedding cattle. But let’s face it – we know why you’re all here. To talk about the Nebraska women’s basketball team!

There are plenty of opportunities for this middle-of-the-pack team to make some upward movement before the Big Ten Tournament. But the W’s need to start happening. As I’m typing this, the Huskers are up 62-43 on the road at Purdue. That’s a great start. So we’ll see how it goes for the Scarlet and Cream clad ladies of Lincoln.

First of all, let me say this…if Devine Ozigbo or Dedrick Mills were in the Royal Rumble, I’d say either of them would win it.

Ziggy had a great showing at the East-West game, will likely get an invitation to the NFL Combine, and could be a third-round draft pick. That’s our prediction.

From the “better late than never” department, we discuss the signing of Dedrick Mills. But that’s not all – as we heard last weekend about defensive back Noa Pola-Gates’ commitment to Nebraska.

Some rather dreary news at the end of the episode, but we’ll let you find that one out on your own.

Well folks, we’re back. Fractured, but we’re back. No Hoss. No Jon Damn Johnston. But we get the Five Heart debut of Corn Nation’s youngest contributor (and hopefully a future Husker), Mitch Lohmeier.

Mitch covers Nebrasketball for CN and was recently accepted by UNL’s broadcasting school. No pressure. But he’ll do great wherever he goes. The only hang-up about this episode is a poor internet connection, which is rare these days. So we have to suffer through it. But what you get is the shortest Five Heart Podcast episode in some time. And for that, we’re sorry.

Nebraska has a bright second half in store for itself in 2019 if they come out swinging every game. After the win against Penn State this past week, it’s time to start stringing W’s together and making a run for the tournament. No time to take the foot off the gas.

I look forward to having Mitch on again in the future as he has a lot of good info in his head that I’d like to get out when the connection is better. But this week, enjoy a twenty-minute podcast.

After giving Jon a couple weeks off so he could take photos at the regional and national volleyball tournaments, Fearless Leader is back with Hoss and Hooch, and he brought along Corn Nation’s recruiting correspondent, Rick Cone. Well, we’re not talking Nebrasketball today. But Corn Nation’s Volleyball Guru Ty Peteranetz and I have lots of volleyball talk to get you geared up for tonight’s National Semifinal Volleyball match.

After sweeping their way to the National Final Four, defeating Kentucky and Oregon on the way, the Huskers return to Minneapolis for the second consecutive week, and take on another Big Ten team in the semifinal, facing off against Illinois for the third time of the year.

Ty will be in Minneapolis for as long as the Huskers are there. We wish him safe travels and a long weekend.
