  • Couples Urged To Think About The Real Consequences Of Eloping
The idea of eloping has become more popular since Covid-19 hit.
Tens of thousands of weddings we cancelled across Ireland after the Government banned mass gatherings and closed hotels. For some couples this meant facing the heartbreak of having to push their big day indefinitely, while for others it was a sigh of relief for not having to worry about seating plans or who makes the guest list.
This morning on Dermot & Dave a listener contacted the show asking for advice on whether she should elope or not, after her wedding plans were ruined by the Coronavirus.
Her text lead to a huge influx of calls from people who had done something similar and regretted it. One listener told the lads how her family didn't speak to her for six months after eloping.
While another lady said her family were "angry" when she invited them to a birthday that doubled up as a wedding.
Hit play on the podcast below to hear just some of Dermot & Dave listeners marked their big day.

His first guest will be the All Blacks legend and 1987 Rugby World Cup winner, John Kirwan.
A former New Zealand winger who was officially knighted for his services to rugby and mental health in 2012.
John Kirwan's professional and sporting triumphs provided no immunity from the ravages of mental illness.
In an open and honest discussion he explores how he came to acknowledge that he had a problem and, crucially, how he acted in his best interests to help himself.
From almost jumping from a hotel window in an act of desperation to helping people the world over with their own personal battles.
The pair admitted that such confessions of vulnerability seemed particularly tough in the sporting world they inhabited.
Alan spoke to Dermot & Dave about the new podcast series this morning.

  • Dermot And Dave Take A First Look At Staying In A Hotel Post Lockdown
It's been nearly four months since most people in Ireland will have stayed in a hotel, and the world has changed utterly since.

Hotel manager, Donal Minihane, spoke to Dermot and Dave about the practices they've put into place and what you can expect from a hotel stay this summer.
