  • Expert Reveals Why We've All Been Having Strange Dreams During Lockdown
Lets face it, our dreams have been a little weird during lockdown.
Google searches for "weird dreams" has doubled from this time last year.
People are experiencing weird and very vivid dreams due to the pandemic. I thought it would be a very interesting topic to speak about.

Pandemic dreaming is rare but not new! Image globally we are all experiencing this and there are at least 7 studies ongoing analysing what is going on.
Our minds are struggling to cope with the limited input combined with the unseen threat of a virus and this is causing us to dig deep in the psyche for meaning.
Dreams act as a defence mechanism for mental health and offer simulated opportunities to work through stressful real life events.
This morning Dermot & Dave were joined by Sleep Expert Tom Coleman, who broke down just some of the common Covid dreams.

  • Everything You Need To Know About Travelling This Summer
Sunshine is on everyone's mind right now.
And this morning on Dermot & Dave, the lads spoke to Ed Finn, who is a travel journalist with 20 years experience. The week before the lockdown he was in the UK and hasn’t gone abroad since lockdown. However, he is hoping to take his first trip in July to Croatia.
That said, he’s moved his annual two week hols in Spain to September from July, even though he’ll technically be able to go to Spain in July.
As it stands, the Irish Authorities are advising against all non-essential travel overseas until further notice.
If you do leave the country, you are required to obliged to fill out a mandatory Public Health Passenger Locator form which will provide the location of where you will be self-isolating for the next two weeks.
These regulations were due to expire this week but have been extended for another three weeks until July 9th.
If you don’t fill out the form, you could face a fine of €2500 or a prison term of six months.
Hit play to hear the advice that Ed had for Dermot & Dave this morning.

  • Bressie Talks Moving Back To Family Home In Mullingar During Lockdown
Bressie Joined Dermot & Dave today to chat about the second season of his famous podcast 'Where Is My Mind'.
Building on the success of season one, which sat at the top of the charts for weeks at a time on release, culminating in sold-out multimedia live shows in Dublin and LA; season two captures the spirit of the zeitgeist in the wake of covid-19 as people reexamine their values and what matters most to them. It explores how the very things that can help us live a happier, richer life are often under our noses, and how mindfulness can unlock their power to change our worlds forever.
Each episode will see mindfulness expert and musician Niall Breslin joined by a different guest including Ryan Tubridy (radio host), Marian Keyes (best-selling author), Roisin Conaty (comedian) to explore what brings meaning to our lives and enriches the human spirit – from nature, to laughter, to music, to love.
Niall Breslin, host of Where Is My Mind said, “I’m delighted to partner with Spotify for season 2 of Where is My Mind. Spotify has given me the opportunity and a global platform to release a really exciting, boundary-pushing podcast that tests the limits of the genre – as well as helping us to create possibly the only podcast ever to have its own song and music video.”
Bressie also spoke about what it's been like living back in his family home in Mullingar.

  • You Could Be Entitled To €800 Tax Back If You're Working From Home
Thousands of workers across Ireland who are working from home due to the Covid-19 outbreak are entitled to avail of e-worker tax relief.
E-worker relief is a tax relief on expenses which people may incur while working from home.
If you have never worked from home before, you may be unaware of this relief and how to claim it.
In this guide we’ll discuss everything you need to know - including how to determine if you are eligible and what you will need in order to apply.
E-working is characterised as working for substantial amounts of time outside your normal place of work.
So, if you work from home either full or part time, you may be eligible for tax relief.
You may also be entitled to claim if your working week is split between your home and an office.
Marian Ryan, Business Development Manager from Taxback.com joined Dermot & Dave this morning to discuss just what we are entitled to.

  • What The Gyms Of Ireland Will Looks Like When They Reopen
Gyms got the go ahead to reopen next Monday, June 29th.
Ronan Murphy from ToneFit Gym joined Dermot & Dave this morning to chat about the new rules.
If sufficient space is available than more than one group can conduct an activity simultaneously. However it is advised that space should be maximised where possible for participants in order to risk mitigate.
Groups should act independently, there should be no interaction between groups.
Start and finish times of different groups should be staggered to allow appropriate flow and minimise congregation of people.
Shorter duration sessions will likely reduce risk.
NGBs will need to assess as to how many groups can safely exercise concomitantly on a pitch or training area.
To have two groups on a pitch there may have to be less than 15 in the group in order to participate safely. Attention should be given as to whether equipment (i.e. a ball) can cross over to other group and a greater distance between groups should be sought if this is possible.
There should be no more than two groups on a games pitch or training area at one time.
