  • How You Can Take Part In Ireland's First Ever Game Of Big Brother
It was once one of the biggest shows in the world, and while two Irish people have won the UK version of Big Brother, there's never been an Irish edition.
    Until now.
Now you can take part in Ireland's first ever game of Big Brother, but not how you think.
This morning, Mark Quick from 9th Impact spoke to Dermot and Dave about how a Galway-based company have been secretly working on a brand new Big Brother game.
Big Brother: The Game will launch at the end of May exclusively in Ireland. People across the country will get the chance to enter a virtual house where they will have to take part in tasks, nominations and undoubtedly some backstabbing along the way. And if that's not cool enough, you could win a few bob too.
The international version will launch later this year with players from around the world entering the virtual house and competing to win a substantial amount of money.
Mark and his team have even created a 'Dave' who would be appearing in the house.

  • Could Your Favourite Soaps Be Back Filming Soon?
If there's one thing that our producer Maria loves, it's soaps. And lockdown has been made all the harder for her because they've all had to cease production.
This morning, she had an update on when we could see the cobbles of Coronation Street, the Old Vic and the gang from Hollyoaks.
Plus, what's going on with Madonna's arse? Yes, seriously.

  • Taoiseach Leo Varadkar Says He Would 'Love' A Pint But Can't See Pubs Opening Earlier
This coming Friday, we'll find out if the current restrictions we've been living with for 6 weeks can begin to be eased and the gradual lifting of lockdown will begin.
Speaking to Dermot and Dave this morning, An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said that the current figures are 'reassuring' and while there's the possibility that might change over the coming days, he is 'much more comfortable now' than he was a week or two ago.
We never read too much into any single day of figures because you can have lots of blips, so we look at a five or seven day average. And what’s reassuring over the past couple of days is that we’re seeing the number of new deaths being reported trending downwards, the number of new cases trending downwards, fewer people in ICU every day, fewer people in hospital every day with Covid. There’s always the possibility that may change over the next couple of days, but I don’t think so. I don’t want to raise expectations and them dash them on Friday but things are going in the right direction and have been for the past couple of weeks and I’m much more comfortable now than I was a week or two ago.
An Taoiseach also confirmed that the pandemic unemployment payment and wage subsidy scheme will have to be extended, though wouldn't confirm for how much longer.
We do intend to extend it, I can’t say how long we’ll extend it (for), one thing we’ll probably do is extend the temporary wage subsidy scheme longer than the pandemic unemployment because we’ll be encouraging employers to take people back on. So when you’re offered your job back, if you refuse it you lose your pandemic unemployment payment but your employer will be able to take you back on the wage subsidy scheme.
When asked about requests by pub sector to be allowed to re-open as soon as June 10th, An Taoiseach said they are 'determined' to work with sectors hoping to get back to work.
We’re going to listen to anything any business or sector have to say about opening earlier. The key test for us is if it’s possible to open a business and maintain good hygiene and social distancing. The truth is that in a pub that is very difficult, pubs had to close before they were told to close because they weren’t able to maintain social distancing in a number of cases and the difficulty then for the pubs and the publicans, and I really feel for them, is if they do maintain the 2m rule and so on, they might be able to open but would they be viable. But it is something we’re determined to work through with them, but as things stand we won’t see pubs, nightclubs, entertainment venues open until mid-August.
Which means that he'll have to wait a little longer for his ideal day after the pandemic which he described as 'a couple of drinks with some friends'.
I’d love a pint, I haven’t a pint on draught for a long time. I think some pubs are delivering but I haven’t availed of that yet. I live for the summer, I love football, love the concerts and that’s probably all off realistically but definitely a couple of drinks with some friends. I’m really looking forward to that whenever it’s possible again. I should say having dinner with my Mum and Dad as well.

  • Intimacy Director Of 'Normal People' Talks Creating Connell And Marianne Sex Scenes
Normal People is by far the biggest show on TV right now.
It has clocked up over 16 million views on the BBC iPlayer, become a ratings hit for RTE here in Ireland, and has even gathered some famous fans including James Cordon and Kourtney Kardashian.
However, the show has also hit the headlines because of its sex scenes - with RTE receiving a number of complaints after the first episodes aired three weeks ago. The show tells the story of the love between Connell and Marianne from their teenage years in Sligo right through to their college years in Trinity.
This morning, Dermot & Dave Dermot spoke to the Intimacy Director of Normal People, Ita O'Brien. Ita is an Intimacy Coordinator and Movement Director for film, television, and theatre. For the last six years Ita has been developing best practice when working with intimacy, scenes with sexual content, and nudity in film, TV, and theatre.  Ita pioneered the role of Intimacy Coordinator, which is gaining adoption in leading production houses, including HBO, Netflix, and the BBC.
Hit play to hear how show managed to create some of the most talked about sex scenes ever.

  • Simon Harris: "Getting Ahead Of Ourselves Will Put The Roadmap In Jeopardy"
Simon Harris says he is "concerned" that complacency may prevent the government from proceeding with their Reopening Ireland Roadmap.
The Minister for Health joined Dermot & Dave this morning, where he spoke to the lads about how Ireland are prepared for the lifting of some Covid-19 restrictions on Monday May 18th. It comes as the Department of Health confirmed 15 more deaths from Covid-19 here, while over 23 thousands people have been diagnosed with the virus in Ireland.
But, Minister Harris says the despite the drop in the number of cases over the last number of days, people can't be getting complacent because clusters may pop up again, meaning Ireland could once again return to lockdown. The Health Minster has confirmed that he, the government and health officials are looking at other countries where restrictions have been lifted and are trying to avoid a further spike in case.
The Health Minister also wants to see new laws introduced to regulate people travelling into our ports and airports. It follows reports Gardai may call to passengers' homes to make sure they're in self-isolation for two weeks. It's after a third of people arriving at Dublin Airport recently, didn't fill in forms properly about where they were staying.
