  • Tubridy Reveals Who Would Make The Best Stand-In Toy Show Host
They're massive shoes to fill Ryan!
Christmas starts for most people tonight, as all eyes will be on RTÉ One @9:35pm for The Late Late Toy Show 2019.
And with the movie 'Frozen' being this year's theme, we've no doubt an extravaganza awaits.
Ahead of hosting the biggest family show of the year (his 11th), Tubs took some time out of his Santa-like schedule to reveal all on Dermot and Dave's #AskMeAnything
    When asked about how excited he is, his answer sums up how we're all feeling about it really;
there is no chart available to modern science that can explain what level of excitement going on in my head today. This is the day of days
Listeners had a selection of great questions for the host, one of which was from 'Aaron' who asked, "Have you ever robbed a toy from the set?", which brings Ryan to a "book-related" toy on tonight's show that he describes as his "toy of the year". "Just remember the red box" he urges.
There were lots more like: "When does planning for the Toy Show begin?", "What are the seat levels like under the jumper?" and "What is your favourite moment from the show?".
"If you got struck down with the flu today, who do you think would make a good stand-in host or hosts?" was also another gem. His response wasn't what we were expecting.
Ohh...and Ryan's 'Kermit the Frog' and 'Yoda' impressions are perfection. Talk about hidden talents!

  • Travel Tips: Flying With A Baby Or Toddler
Let's make it as smooth as possible
Long haul flights can be stressful enough without any children, add a baby or infant to the journey and things become a lot more strenuous.
Dermot and Dave listener Cathy got in touch with the show seeking advice for an upcoming trip to Australia - her first with 14-month-old Kate.
She booked the holiday a couple of months ago but with Kate getting much busier since then, she's kinda regretting choosing such a faraway destination. It's an eight hour flight to Dubai followed by another 13.5 hours to Melbourne.
Being the daddy day care experts they are, D&D offer their advice and reassurance that everything is going to work out just fine, with great praise for the services supplied by air hosts and hostesses.
But they couldn't just let Westmeath lady take their word for it - so they asked listeners to chip in with their suggestions:
    sticker books
a drop of olbas oil on each shoulder (prevents ears popping)
    nibbles
    plenty of drinks
    new toys
    lots of walking
ditch the onboard bassinets (turbulence disturbs them too much)
    favourite cartoons on devices
Child Sleep Consultant Erica Hargadon (of Babogue Sleeping Solutions) also offers her expertise saying that sleep is vital:
try and hit the sleep waves that your child might be used to
having familiar things from home (unwashed blankie)
snuggling them up into your arms
    Preparation is key.

  • Dermot & Dave's DNA Results Are In: Who Will Live Longer?
    D&D get DNA'd
A couple of months back, Dermot and Dave chatted to Tom Stubbs, co-founder of the personal epigenetics and biotechnology company Chronomics, about a pioneering saliva DNA testing kit they had created.
This kit measures levels of smoke exposure, your metabolic status and your biological age, which could show how long you will live.
The two lads have since sent off their epigenetic data to be studied and the results are in.
Dr Dani Herrin reveals the findings and all I'm going to say is that one of them ends up being 7 years younger than the other. But which of them is it??
If you would like to have your epigenetics tested, check out the Chronomics website here.

  • Those Little Black Dots On Your Windscreen Have A Very Important Purpose
    It's all about the "frit"
Dave's World has brought us some mind-blowing facts over the years, but this one might just be my favourite yet.
How have I never looked this up before?
You know that black band/line that goes around your windscreen? Well that's known as the "frit".  The urethane glue that holds the glass to the frame is bonded on the frit line which gives it better adhesion to the glass. While the inward of the frit line aids the bond between the glass and the frame, the outward blocks the UV rays from harming the urethane which would cause damage to the bond over time.
And what about those black dots beside the frit line? Well they're not there just to look pretty, their function is to draw the eye away from the frit line gradually - as opposed to a sharp black line on its own that would distract the driver.

  • Are You Ready For...SANTA SHARK???
Just when you thought it was safe to go back on YouTube...
It seems like only yesterday that South Korea's Pinkfong hypnotised the world with "Baby Shark" and now, there's a new predator in town.
Dave Moore came across Super Simple Songs' "Santa Shark" during the week and is praying it stays in the depths of the internet:
Dave's World also introduces us to some AI heavy metal music. It's strange. Very strange.

  • There's Mayhem At Noni's Black Friday Event
    Absolute scenes lads!
Last week, Limerick entrepreneur Noni Considine revealed her Black Friday deals, and it obviously whet her customer's appetites.
Her Thomond Park stall was thronged with buyers; so much so that she ran out of chawklit.
But I don't think she'll be shifting too many limited edition Freddos.

  • Coldplay Wow Fans At Unique London Venue
Today FM listeners go on the Adventure of a Lifetime
As Dermot and Dave listeners will know, show producer Maria Devereux is addicted to Coldplay (well Chris Martin actually).
To celebrate the release of their eight studio album Everyday Life, Maz, as she's known, decided to do something extra special and bring two competition winners to an exclusive gig in The National History Museum in London. Flights, accommodation - the lot!
So how did Maz, Nicola and Orla get on at the intimate gig, where only 800 people attended the money-can't-buy experience?
These three pictures sum it up pretty well:
I think Chris and the boys enjoyed it too:
The end of an amazing night in an incredible venue. A

  • Irish Chef Conor Spacey Guides Us To A Zero Waste Christmas
The most wonderful time of the year doesn't have to be the most wasteful

Conor says; "Christmas is a feast time, it is a traditional feast time, and it's not about cutting back on the amount you're eating, it's just looking at what you're eating and making sure you use all of it".
He guides us through the techniques he uses to transform vegetable and fruit peels into tasty chutneys, pestos and kombuchas. And let's not forget about the "scobys" (Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast):
