We continued our series with Professor Olivier Descamps by discussing the emergence of the Fifth French Republic and the growing soveriegnist tendencies to strengthen member states at the expense of European institutions. These efforts eventually led to a political crisis and an agreement between Member States to introduce a veto known as the Luxembourg Compromise.
