This week Sarah Ann Macklin speaks to double Olympic gold medalist, Victoria Pendleton CBE.
Mental health problems are one of the world’s most common conditions, with behavioural patterns such as depression and anxiety affecting millions of people every year. Startlingly, 1 in 6 people experience a common mental health problem every week. Victoria shares her personal experience with mental health, relaying the dark times that she experienced at her deepest lows with depression and battling thoughts of suicide.
Victoria shares for the first time about her eating disorder, of her struggle with anorexia nervosa and bulimia. Victoria explains how her depression and ultimately extremely low self worth and warped body image lead to her to use food as a control mechanism to regain the power that she felt she had lost.
