What Shape Are Your Emotions In?
Did you know that emotions had a shape? I personally did not until I was approached recently by this week's guests. As someone who talks a lot on the podcast about emotions and how we need to understand and react well to our emotions, I was intrigued. It wasn't until I began to look in to Matthew & Chantal from 5th.Place that I knew about the Shape of Emotion...
What is the "Shape of Emotion?"
"Shape of Emotion is a model, process and tool of how we structure, store, represent and regulate our inner feeling states." Working at the intersection of mindfulness and affective science, Chantal Dawtrey and Matthew Green of 5th Place developed Shape of Emotion as one way to address the scale of the mental health problem that stands in the way of learning, potential and hope. You can find some incredible tools and learn more about Shape of Emotion by visiting the 5th.Place website or listening to Matthew & Chantal's podcast "Emotions Matter. Really!"

Do You See All the Possibilities?
Sometimes the greatest challenge we face is not what we don't have or cannot do, but not seeing all the possibilities available to us. Wanting what we don't have, or not being able to do something we desire can be cause for great frustration, and in some cases, Hate. Sometimes it takes the right coach in order for you to see all the possibilities. Are you as happy as you'd like to be? Is your life one of Peace, Purpose and Prosperity? Do you see all the possibilities?
Who is Victoria Rader ~ Possibility Coach™?
Victoria Rader, or simply Vica, was born in Ukraine, in the fromer USSR, and the Soviet Union did not make it easy or possible to leave the country. Yet the regime could not stop Vica nor her Ukrainian freedom seeking genes from dreaming, creating, pursuing, and ultimately proving that everything is possible.
Through thousands of client sessions and hundreds of speeches and seminars, Vica has witnessed that the cap to one’s fulfillment and performance is defined by their subconscious programming. As a result, Vica and her team have created products and services with a unique proprietary success formula of healing one’s heart, freeing one’s mind, and expanding one’s talents and skills to see, create and live a life of infinite possibilities.

Achieve Greatness Through Mental Fitness
Not a single human being has ever died from a snake bite. In reality, what kills is not the bite, but actually the venom. Venom kills and when you hold on to hate and negative emotions, you are allowing the venom of hate kill your positive mental fitness. Think about the last time that you were filled with hate or negative emotions. How helpless did you feel? My guest this week, Colin C. Thompson has also felt that feeling of helplessness. Fortunately, after building up his mental fitness, Colin was able to avoid negative emotions and the feeling of helplessness.
Colin C. Thompson is a Certified Positive Intelligence Coach and through sharing his own experiences with you, you will gain new insights on mental fitness. By the end of today’s podcast, you will pick up tools to combat hate, improve your relationships, and increase your peace-of-mind and well-being. Your ability to maintain a positive mindset, regardless of what is happening to you, is an ability that you can learn.
What have you done today to make your life a better life? What have you done today to make the world a better place? The world is a better place if we are better people. How do you escape the FOG of a toxic relationship? If your past is anything like mine, you may have been in a toxic relationship, or several. So many of us find ourselves in relationships with the wrong person for the wrong reason. Some of those relationships are toxic. Maybe it's because of a toxic person. Maybe you're the toxic person. Maybe you're just toxic together.
My Guest this week is Shannon Petrovich of Therapist Talks
Shannon Petrovich, LCSW, LISAC, BCD, is a therapist in private practice with over 30 years experience. Shannon earned her Bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College, and her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Connecticut. She earned her clinical licenses in Social Work and Substance Abuse Counseling, and is a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work.
Her new book, Out of the FOG Into the CLEAR, Journaling to Help You Heal from Toxic Relationships has attained Amazon Bestseller status in Self Help for Abuse, Codependency, and Personal Transformation.
On her YouTube channel Therapist Talks, she shares insights, information, perspectives, and strategies on a wide range of relationship and mental health topics.

Getting along isn't possible if we aren't having the conversation. I bring this up because we are just weeks away from yet another contentious election. Accusations are flying, hyperbole is everywhere. Hate for the opposition is thick in the air and little of what is said about those on the opposing side is probably true. What would the world, and more specifically our country, be like if people of opposing views had civil discussions again?
It's been incredibly busy for me in recent weeks, which hasn't afforded me a lot of time for guest interviews and editing. I am incredibly fortunate to have some great archived episodes with some outstanding guests that I can pull from. One such guest is my friend Angel Eduardo. Getting along, made possible through conversation, is something that Angel does very well. Through his insightful writing, his work with multiple organizations and, as a podcast host on the FAIR perspective podcasts, Angel continues to do incredible work to better the world in which we live.

Do you approach all of your personal interactions with Grace, Gratitude, Respect and Integrity?
What do the words grace, gratitude, respect and integrity mean to you? I make the statement every week on the DTH podcast that we cannot control everything that happens to us in life, but we can control how we react to it. This is really one of the personal accountability pieces that I refer to so often. Imagine if we all approached our personal interactions using these principles.
Grace
As written in an article in Christianity.com, Grace is the Hebrew word chanan or the Greek word charis, meaning “the state of kindness and favor toward someone, often with a focus on a benefit given to the object.” (Strong’s Greek 5485).
Gratitude
Something I talk about probably more often than anything else on the DTH podcast. Gratitude is the quality of being thankful and having a readiness for showing appreciation. I often contend that you cannot be a happy person without being a grateful person.
Respect
Respect is really about treating someone with admiration and appreciation and seeing the humanity within them as a person.
Integrity
Having a strong sense of integrity means you are a person who is honest and of strong moral character.
If all people were to approach their personal interactions with these 4 important principles, can you imagine how much better the world in which we live would be?
What have you done today to make your life a better life? What have you done today to make the world a better place? The world is a better place if we are better people. That begins with each of us leading a better life. Be kind to one another. Be grateful for everything you’ve got. Make each and every day the day that you want it to be!

What is the Theory of Racelessness?
Have you ever heard of the theory of racelessness? What if there were no such thing as race, if race as a "thing" did not exist? Would we then be able to conquer racism? It's not a hard theory to grab a hold of if you try. This week's guest has developed the Theory of Racelessness.
Who is Dr. Sheena Mason?
Sheena Michele Mason earned her Ph.D. in English literature from Howard University in Washington DC USA. In August 2021, she joined the faculty at SUNY Oneonta as an Assistant Professor in English. Her first book Theory of Racelessness: A Case For Antirace(ism), a textbook, presents an alternative philosophy of race and the theory of racelessness, an analytical and teaching framework for understanding "race" and stopping racism and its effects. It also presents a philosophy of race, culture, and ethnicity. Inspired by her theory, she co-founded Theory of Racelessness, an educational firm that helps people use alternative philosophies of race and her theory to achieve truly antiracist outcomes. Her second book that presents her theory to a broader audience is due to be released in 2023. The theory of racelessness helps more people undo racism by undoing their belief in "race" and unintentional upholding of racism, by extension.

Is our country at odds with its own identity? What is our country's true identity? My guest this week, James E. Palombo, makes the claim that there is not enough dialogue about the character and culture of our great nation.
Who is James E. Palombo?
Jim Palombo was a self-described drug dealer and wise-guy who while being incarcerated back in the 1970's came to the realization that he didn't want to spend his life in and out of prison and fighting the powers of our justice system. At the suggestion of a mentor while in prison, he began receiving an education. It was through this education and his own life experiences that Jim gained a unique understanding of the American experiment.
My conversation with Jim on this episode of the DTH podcast is such an important one, because while Jim and I don't agree on some things with regard to our country, we both want to make the case that many in our country lack ideological clarity and without an informed citizenry, our country is in big trouble. Check out this great DTH conversation and be sure to share it with your network of friends!

Nothing good comes of Hate
I’ve made the statement so many times on this podcast, but I’m reminded daily that nothing good comes of hate. There is no greater reminder in my mind than the speech given this past week, and other things said recently by the current President of the United States. For clarification, THE DTH PODCAST IS NOT POLITICAL. I want to make sure that is clear, but Hate is Hate and I’ll point it out when I see it.
People often make the statement, “words matter”. When labels are placed on large groups of people, and then those people are classified as a threat, bad things are bound to happen. Hate, no matter the context, is not healthy. The fact that our current President knows nothing about so many of what he calls “right-wingers” and “ultra-MAGA extremists”, yet boldly spews his hatred for them, made me think of a conversation I recently had with my friend Daryl Davis.
The Daryl Davis Discussion
In episode 99 of the DTH podcast, Daryl Davis and I discuss the question, “How can you hate me when you don’t even know me?”. We discuss this question in terms of race. I believe the question is valid for people of all differences. Please check out the replay of this great conversation. Be one of those that asks questions and gets to know those with whom you differ and disagree. Don’t buy the lies and ad-hominem attacks of those who would prefer to keep us divided.

The importance of family and family time cannot be overstated. I spoke last week about taking a little time for myself and the family. We enjoyed our little weekend camping trip, and so grateful for the memories. As I was thinking about the importance of family and family time, I began thinking about an early DTH conversation I had with my friend Kendall Qualls. I've pulled that conversation from the DTH archives for this week's episode.
Who is Kendall Qualls?
Kendall Qualls, president of Take Charge Minnesota, knows the American Dream is possible for EVERYONE, regardless of race. In this interview, Kendall and I discuss how “Critical Race Theory” is nothing but a way for those seeking power to divide, while Take Charge Minnesota has a better goal. Rebuilding and resurrecting the American Black Family through Faith, Family and Education.
Kendall and Take Charge Minnesota outright denounce the idea of systemic racism, white privilege and abhor identity politics and the promotion of victimhood. Instead of promoting and perpetuating that perpetual victim mentality, Take Charge MN is an organization that has truly made its mission, for individuals to Take Charge of their own Life, Family and Community.
