You're cruising down the highway, passing those in the right lane who obviously don't have anywhere to go that is quite as important as your time or where you're headed, and it happens...  Everything was going just as you had hoped and then you come upon that person in the left lane that is creeping along at the speed limit. At first you think, "they'll see me if I just get a bit closer", then a minute or two passes, your face starts to get a little hot, then someone passes you on the right, you've got no room to get over, you swear under your breath, things in my car are escalating and I'm the only one here, what's wrong with them, AAAHHHH!!!

I've been in the transportation industry for 22 years. Many of those years I've spent living on the road as a driver, and the last several managing multiple drivers. If I haven't seen it, I've heard about it, and a lot of times, the IT is not good. In recent years, the nonsense we see on the roads as drivers, whether professional or not, has been getting worse. These several months since the pandemic began have compounded the problem with higher tensions, increased drug & alcohol use, and people losing their minds in general. 

In this episode I share some recent experiences that have happened as I've filled in on routes in the big rig. I talk about personal accountability, some statistics, and tips to keep yourself and your loved ones safer on the road. Make sure to thank a trucker today, for they are the ones that keep food on the table and goods of all kinds moving across our great nation.

Are  you someone who has worked hard and has some nice things? Are you proud to have those things? Have you ever been confronted by someone who says, "it must be nice" as if you somehow don't deserve, or didn't earn those things? Envy is an Ugly Emotion... an emotion that leads to resentment, anger and hate.

In this week's solo episode I talk about a conversation I had recently had with someone that was confronted with this very scenario. It should come as no surprise, but still does, that there are those who would confront someone who has nice things and say, "it must be nice", when there are those in politics and the media that drive and perpetuate class envy as they do. We must resist those who constantly attempt to divide us by class through the perpetuation of envy and disdain for those who have more than we do.

In the United States, there are in excess of three quarters of a million law enforcement personnel working to keep our citizens safe from the evil forces that would do us harm. The "Thin Blue Line" as it is often called, is the only thing standing between peace and chaos. Some would have you believe that the system is broken, racist, and even needs to be abolished and rebuilt in a completely different image than what we currently have. Those people are driven by ignorance, hate &/or political agendas that stand in contrast to logic and sensibility.

This week's guest, Chris Sherwin, is an active duty police officer of more than 20 years, serving the public in one of Chicago's suburbs. He and 2 other active duty policeman have a podcast, 3 Cops Talk, where they face tough subjects including police brutality, racial tension and so much more. 

After all the misinformation spread by the media and politicians alike surrounding the incident in Minneapolis with George Floyd, Ferguson and other incidents where police encounters ended in tragedy, Chris and his co-hosts Scott & Shaun knew it was time to do something. "Everybody wants to be the hero in their own life story".
Fred Cook's former lifestyle of hatred as a long time member of, and Chief of Staff for the National Socialist Movement, like so many others, did not start with him waking up one day deciding he wanted to live a hate filled life full of enemies. As an impressionable teen that suffered from lack of an identity, hate took its opportunity, and found Fred when he was most vulnerable.

Who is Fredrick Cook?
Fred Cook's story is a fascinating one. Our conversation spans Fred's time as an impressionable teen seeking an identity, then suffering a race related traumatic event, then falling in with skinheads...  and so much more leading up to present day, where Fred has been out of the NSM for several years and has taken his and his family's life in a 180 degree turn from his former hate driven lifestyle full of enemies.

Fred now subscribes to the mindset, "what defines a person is their innate ability to see the humanity in other people". Whether it just be listening to this conversation, Fred's work as an associate director / interventionist with Beyond Barriers USA, or his documenting of his journey toward redemption on his personal Son of Sinai website, there are so many important lessons that can be learned. I asked the question last week, "What do you think of the K-12 public education system as it exists today?" I think that most people who are paying attention, if being intellectually honest, would say that it's a complete mess and it's in many ways out of control. It is certainly out of control in terms of parents being in control of their children's education. Many would say, and have said, that the K-12 public education system has become just another indoctrination mill for the loudest voices with a poisonous agenda. Just this week, we've seen the Department of Justice put out notice that those who oppose CRT and other poisonous curriculum should be monitored as domestic terrorists. Kind of scary isn't it?

In my conversation this week,  Tony Kinnett of the Chalkboard Review discuss his piece that was recently published in the National Review titled "Conservatives, Take Back the Education Field". We also discuss the reality that school choice, while certainly an important cause that is desperately needed, is not the only answer to solve the problems we face as a nation with our education system. It will take much more than school choice legislation to fix the mess we're in. So many important points came out of this great conversation with Tony. What are your thoughts on the K-12 public education system as it exists today in our country? In recent weeks and months we've seen several instances where fed up parents and community members have stood up to school boards all over the country, due to any number or reasons, be it CRT, LGBTQ curriculum, mask mandates, etc... 

Dr. Elana Fishbein of No Left Turn in Education is no stranger to the Derate The Hate podcast. We first spoke back in Episode 45 when No Left Turn was just a couple months in to their battle against the indoctrination that so many are becoming fed up with in our K-12 education system.  A lot has been happening with Dr. Fishbein and the No Left Turn organization since we last spoke, including some legal battles and working on proposed legislation to get cameras in to classrooms for full transparency of what our children are being taught.

This week's topic comes straight out of an experience I had this past weekend when my wife and I were attending a group function on the St. Croix River in Stillwater, MN. As we were paying for parking, we encountered a shining example of the reason I came up with the phrase, "No matter how right you think you are, being rude is always the wrong answer"...

I also speak in this week's episode about a hateful comment made by a host of a program on one of the more pathetic main stream media networks. I don't normally dive too deep in to things such as this, but I found this to be a disgusting, division provoking comment about the Gabby Petito disappearance worth talking about. Those who stoke division by promoting racism and a victimhood mentality are the worst kind of racists...

Have you ever had a conversation with someone and came away thinking, if the world had more thinkers such as this, the world would be a much calmer and better place for everyone? The deep thinker I’m talking about is Angel Eduardo and I’m grateful this week for having the opportunity to speak with Angel on the Derate the Hate podcast.

I recently read a piece by Angel published in Newsweek, “Stop calling me “white” for having the wrong opinions”, which stood out to me as something that seems to happen with much greater frequency these days. It seems if people of color don’t have the “correct” ideas or opinions, they are said to be “acting white” or called “white” as a pejorative. This is not only a disgusting form of racism and bullying, but it’s a nonsensical attempt by some to keep us divided. Angel has more than a little to say about this so you’re not going to want to miss this conversation!

Who is Angel Eduardo?

Angel Eduardo is a writer, musician, photographer, and designer based in New York City. He is a staff writer and content creator for idealist.org, as well as a columnist for the Center for Inquiry, where he writes on science, communication, skepticism, and morality. He also serves on the Advisory Board for the Foundation Against Intolerance & Racism (FAIR).

His writing has been featured in Newsweek, Areo Magazine, Mr. Beller’s Neighborhood, and The Caribbean Writer, among other print and online publications.
