Want to talk 'SIDE' gigs, better yet... how about 'SIDELINE' gigs as a Professional Football Referee in the NFL!!!
Dr. Mike Morton has led a pretty illustrious career which all started at a young age. He grew up in Kannapolis, North Carolina where he played sports and had a pretty active childhood. He attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill on two scholarships. Throughout his collegiate career, he played both football and baseball. He then went on to play in the NFL for 7 years, including 1999 on the St. Louis Rams Super Bowl team.
Following his stint in the NFL, he went on to pursue a career in dentistry, attending UNC. He graduated and started practicing in 2007 in his hometown of Kannapolis, NC.
Although he was practicing dentistry, his love for sports persisted. He began officiating at the high school level in 2007, collegiate level in 2011, was hired to officiate in the ACC in 2015 and eventually the NFL in 2022! All of this while maintaining a dental practice!
Outside of sports, Mike met his wife Alana in high school. They married in 1997 and have 5 kids: Trey, Jesse, Katie, Laney and Molly. They also have a golden retriever, Sally.
