E104: Relationship 101 | The Willingness To Let The Other Person Change | Consciousness Anywhere Podcast: Shannon O’Hara & Tiffany Brennan & Sul Wynne Jones

Welcome to the Relationship 101 podcast series with special guests Sul Wynne Jones and Tiffani Brennan!

What’s your relationship philosophy?

The majority of people have a point of view about what they want out of the relationship. They don’t really look about what the relationship is for before they get into the relationship. Most people neglect some key elements that lead to relationship stagnation:

  • Vulnerability: the capacity to show up as you, without putting up walls and barriers or trying to be perfect.
  • Allowance of self and others. It means not taking things personally, not resisting and reacting to the energy people are being because most of the time it has nothing to do with you.
  • The willingness to let the other person change, even if it’s not a change that you can understand, or can keep up with or control. It can sometimes feel very challenging: it confronts your identity, your position in the relationship and what you think it means.

Function different. Look at the world different. Become different…
Are you ready to explore?

Key takeaways:

  • Do you enjoy your relationship? If yes, go have one, and if it’s not, don’t do it.
  • Are you willing to lose the people you are in relationship with?
  • When you are willing to have something different, it opens up the space for relationships to contribute what they can, rather than suffocating yourself to death with what you think the relationship should be.
  • How many of you were in projection or expectation of somebody and not able to see who was really in front of you?
  • There is a lot of programming that goes around relationships: you’re not supposed to grow beyond the other person.
  • Relationships are like snowflakes, they’re completely unique.
