Behind the Curtain- Is Instagram a Good Platform for the Enneagram?

In the 69th episode of Enneagram & Coffee, host Sarajane Case talks about Instagram, if it is a good platform for Enneagram in line with her purpose. Listen as she also talks more about self-care.

          Episode Highlights:

          • Sarajane is in her office with the doors open, and birds are singing outside.
          • Sarajane talks about how she dealt with guilt after two weeks of being sick, thinking that she may have neglected something by not listening to her body.
          • Her sickness made her think a lot about how people don't listen to their bodies.
          • Neglect creates cravings, and cravings come from restrictions.
          • People are supposed to feel good, and if they don't, then maybe something is being neglected.
          • The fear of being undisciplined and distrust of self are causes of self-care neglect.
          • Unlearn the idea that we should not trust our needs.
          • Even in the workplace, have that moment to take a break.
          • Host remembers when she was in college working on a busy coffee shop that was understaffed, where she freaked out and cried at the back as a flood of people came in while she was physically, emotionally, and mentally exhausted.
          • Sarajane talks about her day off and a day of full media silence.
          • Sarajane kind of questions the ability to use the enneagram on Instagram since it is hard to synthesize the information into tiny boxes.
          • Enneagram is so deep, and it is so sacred to a lot of people, and it is so personal that a lot of us had a hard time accepting any variations of it.
          • Some people are not going farther in the enneagram, and don't even know what enneagram is, who are followers, forming their understanding off of it.
          • Sarajane's deep purpose is to help people find their balance between self-acceptance and productivity.
          • The enneagram enhances the balance between self-care and productivity.
          • Sarajane is struggling with this format, as she's not confident that enneagram and coffee have its stance on Instagram.
          • Sarajane confidently believes that the podcast has its stand.
          • Sarajane is in a constant conflict whether she's posting these things when she is not confident.
          • Sarajane opted to choose her purpose over followers.
          • Sarajane focuses on the impact that she's making in the lives of her followers.
          • Sarajane wants to make sure that that time of her followers is valued, not just in production but in intent.

          • 3 Key Points:

            1. Don't sacrifice self-care for discipline or discipline for self-care as they can co-exist.
            2. Be reminded that followers as a human being with beating hearts and souls, giving their time and attention.
            3. Always choose your purpose over half a million of followers.
            4.

              • " Moderation is okay."- Sarajane Case

              • 67: Holy Ideas of the Enneagram

                Holy Ideas

In this 67th episode of Enneagram & Coffee, host Sarajane Case talks about the concept of Holy Ideas. She discusses the 9 Enneagram types in this world, their fixations, and mindfulness exercises (Holy Ideas) to counter those fixations!

                Episode Highlights:

                • A plethora of factors have caused Sarajane to stop posting podcasts for a while
                • Holy ideas are what we are when we release that attachment to earning, love, and okayness
                • Holy ideas can act as a counterpose, like yoga, to our structure, allowing us to stretch those parts of our being that often get ignored
                • Type-1 focuses on everything being perfect and can lead to burnout in pursuit of that perfection
                • Holy Perfection is the idea that everything is perfect because that’s just the way it is
                • Type-2s become fixated on giving to receive love or be liked, which can lead to disappointment and overworking
                • Holy Will is the acceptance of the concept that goodness will come naturally and you don’t have to make that happen
                • Forcing yourself to take care of yourself is one of the best ways to counter a love vacuum
                • Type-3s feel the need to appear successful and can lead to self-neglect and self-ignorance
                • Holy Law is the idea that individual achievement does not exist and focuses on glorifying things that are greater than one person
                • Ask yourself if you would do something if you are okay with it going unseen
                • Type-4s focus on what is missing and can cause dissatisfaction with what does exist and a constant search for outside meaning
                • Holy Origin is the acceptance that our existence is enough and we are what we are, which is good
                • Type-5s are fixated on the idea that they do not have enough which leads to a lack of connection brought on by over strategizing life
                • Holy Omnitiants allow us to accept that life has provided us with everything that we need
                • Type-6s prepare themselves for all scenarios and that can bring on undue stress and worry
                • Holy Faith helps people accept the present moment for what it is and what is within their scope of control
                • Type-7s become fixated on planning which can cause a constant search for happiness in the future
                • Holy Plan is the acceptance that everything is meant to be, thus ridding the need to make your own plans
                • Type-8s aim to rebalance wrongs in a search for justice which can cause rage and lack of ability to forgive and trust
                • Holy Truth allows people to let go of the state of resistance and allow life to unfold as it will
                • Type-9s tend to ignore their feelings and step back in those moments when they should be stepping forward
                • Holy Love brings back that connection to the idea that without you, the universe wouldn’t exist how it’s supposed to
                •

                  3 Key Points:

                  1. The Holy Idea for Type-1s is Holy Perfection or the idea that everything is perfect because it is.
                  2. It’s easy to look around a room and see everything that is missing, but that is a mindset choice that we all must make.
                  3. As long as one remains fixated on the future, they will never find happiness and satisfaction in the present moment.
                  4.

                    Tweetable Quotes:

                    • “Our Enneagram type is who we felt like we had to become in order to survive in the world.” - Sarajane Case
                    • “A love vacuum: a lot of love is going out and you’re not meeting your own needs. Other people aren’t trying to read your mind or meet your needs for you so...you’re being sucked dry.” - Sarajane Case
                    • “Show yourself what’s possible when you aren’t forcing action.” - Sarajane Case
                    • “We get to bring goodness into the world through something larger than ourselves.” - Sarajane Case
