I’ve watched women turn from shy caterpillars into beautiful butterflies through the Courage Driven Latina program. That definitely describes this week's guest, who went from being a “total money nerd” to a money coach with her own business, podcast, and a feature in Entrepreneur magazine. 

Sunem Tovar, a Latina Money Coach, is passionate about empowering women of color and people of color to get their money right. Being the only Latina in her Master in Finance program led Sunem to become increasingly frustrated with how inaccessible wealth building is for communities of color, especially for women and femmes of color. Sunem has been able to channel this frustration by building wealth herself as a woman of color and by also educating her family on how to build wealth. Now, she’s committed to helping other women of color build strong financial foundations.

 

In this week’s episode, Sunem talks about her experience, working through the Courage Driven Latina project and taking courageous action to improve her life. She talks about getting over her imposter syndrome, negotiating for better working conditions at her job, and eventually starting her own money-coaching business with her brother.
