Perhaps women in particular don’t want to get married earlier because they don’t want to end up as a polygamous wife in the afterlife
Societal trend of marriage ages is rising at a rate of about one month per year, average male age is like 28 and average female age is 25

It probably all comes down to this: there are well documented psychological, sociological, physical, and economical downsides to getting married early and having lots of kids, but there are positive church outcomes in activity rates, tithing receipts, and retention rates. Hence, Oaks views giving potentially damaging advice like this is ok so long as the needs of the church come first. It’s a philosophy called doctrine over self. What is best for you spiritually, socially, or physically must be subverted for the betterment of the collective whole. That is the very definition of a high demand religion.
