Today Amanda shares her birth story and is open and honest about her struggle and healing journey of birth trauma. I’m so happy I got to speak with her about this topic because her trauma had come in the third stage of pregnancy.

Amanda Janzen, momma of two, is a “retired” OB nurse and now the owner of The Midwest Momma Collective where she practices as an (IBCLC) lactation consultant and birth/postpartum doula. She had a traumatic hospital birth with her first baby and has since had a healing “home away from home” birth with her second during the Covid-19 pandemic. With nearly identical labors/births and postpartum complications, she knows the importance of trauma informed care and the lasting impact trauma has in the postpartum period.
