What is the place and purpose of vaginal examinations during pregnancy and birth? Almost all pregnant and birthing women will be offered one. This practice is embedded in 'usual' maternity care, but you'll see in this episode that it doesn't have to be, and there is very little clinical significance to having vaginal examinations.
