Let’s explore this idea of “being present, or being in the now”- what does this mean?? Why does it seem like a useful pointer until it smolders on the burn pile?
· The concept of now and “the present moment” seems to be a facet of the kaleidoscope of attention. It FEELS like one can direct attention, but who is doing that? Where is the mechanism that allows that to feel this way??
· What entails a “present moment” separate from a past or future moment? Why is it preferable to create a place called Now- is it better?
· Why You can’t be present: Because you cannot be anywhere else that would be in contrast to a place called “the present”! The concept implies somewhere else! Notice that This here and now, is changing -but not into a future…just into a variation of presence.
Does the concept of The Now have an atmosphere of seeking and striving for you?
