Science and technology have advanced rapidly over the last two decades, but unfortunately medical practice has not kept pace.
In a previous episode, I talked about markers beyond LDL and HDL cholesterol that were important for determining heart disease risk.
In that episode, I focused mostly on LDL particle #, but today I want to talk about another risk factor that is also frequently missed: Lipoprotein a or Lp (a).
This risk factor is largely genetic and is responsible for several cases of sudden death in otherwise healthy, lean individuals with normal cholesterol levels.
Tune in to learn all about Lp(a)
