Ms. Paula Hagen (formerly known as Ms. Mark), a retired high school English teacher, and Dr. Velez's former teacher, comes on the show to discuss the path which lead her to become an educator. Ms. Mark, (as her former students would call her) shares details about her life growing up as a gifted child and teen and shares how it would later influence her passion for teaching gifted teens in the predominantly Spanish-speaking community of Hialeah, Florida. Ms. Mark also discusses how she was relentless in the pursuit of helping students dream big and reach their academic potential.
Ms. Mark is more than an educator, she is a beacon of light who planted daily seeds of hope and inspiration into the hearts of her students. It only takes one adult to believe in you, and Ms. Mark was that person to many. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of former students blooming thanks to her influence.
