Helena Biggs began her career at Scratch magazine in 2009 and holds the position of managing editor, overseeing all editorial in the UK office, managing the editorial team and building relationships with brands and clients. She works with companies to ensure that both readers and brands benefit from content within Scratch and across its various platforms.
Helena is responsible for developing the Scratch brand and has masterfully established the Scratch Stars Awards as the nail industry event of the year, recognising talent and passion in the UK nail industry across a variety of categories. She has a multi-media background and is often asked to judge nail art and photographic competitions. As a highly regarded nail and beauty journalist, Helena has written for, and provided quotes to a number of consumer publications both nationally and internationally, and has appeared on TV shows such as Sunday Brunch and ITV’s Daybreak and been a guest on a number of industry podcasts.
June 2013 saw Helena’s first book, Nail Art: Inspiring designs by the world’s leading nail technicians, published by Arcturus Publishing., reaching the top of the best-seller list in beauty on Amazon a week after launch. It sold over 100,000 copies in the first six weeks and a second book followed a year later; Nail Style: Amazing designs by the world’s leading nail techs. A third tome, Nail Art Projects, was published in July 2015.
Named a finalist in the B2B Beauty Journalist of the Year category in the Fashion & Beauty Monitor Awards 2014 and again in 2015, Helena’s unwavering enthusiasm for the industry is infectious. She is a member of the PHAB Service Stars Advisory Board and is the point of contact for editorial queries, advertising, brand promotion and development/campaigns via Scratch‘s various platforms.
