Episode 93: What Parents Want Special Education Teachers to Know

Supporting our parents should be high up on your priority list. One way to do this is to provide parents with a Parent Handbook. This handbook is the perfect introduction into the confusing world of Special Education and will show your parents that you want to work together with them to give their child the best possible education.

Today’s guest is a special one because not only does she work within the field of special education, she is the mom to a son with autism which gives her an in depth insight into all things special education…the IEP meetings, the services provided to her son and  so much more.

This episode is set up a little differently than my other guest interviews in the fact that I’m not going to be asking Markeisha specific questions but instead giving her topics and just letting her tell us what she, as a parent, has to say. I’m hoping that through her words and her insight of having a different perspective, that we as special educators can take her words to heart and make significant improvements in the way we engage with and support our parents.
