Motivation
I dabbled in fitness my whole life growing up. I was on the swim team and ran cross-country, but I was never any good at it. Once I decided that I wanted to make fitness something that I wanted for myself, that's when I started to love it.
Challenges
I was very overweight in college, and once I started running, I started losing weight. All of a sudden people started complimenting me and telling me how good I looked. So I kept running and running, and then I stopped eating. I got very sick with anorexia and struggled with that for about twenty years. It wasn't until I decided that I wanted to be alive that I was able to change.
Passion for Helping You
I had a client walk out of a session and say, "Wow, that was like a combination of meditation and a shot of tequila!". I take that as a huge compliment because I'm committed to helping people connect body, mind, and spirit, and move forward.
Nutrition
I'm a strict vegetarian and have been for many years, but I would never say this is the way to do it. Everybody's different. I would say that the one thing that I've done about five times now is The Conscious Cleanse by Jules and Jo in Boulder. It's mainly about clean eating, but it really helps give me a jump start.
Final Round
Morning Routine
It's the most important part of my day. I'm up by 5. I write in my gratitude journal, focus on my relationship with God, work on my business, and workout at 6:15.
What's a favorite quote or mantra of yours
"People will forget what you say or do, but they will never forget the way you made them feel."~Maya Angelou
Who inspires you
My parents and my cousin Ann.
What's the best advice you've ever received
One of my therapists recommended that I explore my spirituality and really connect to that.
Do you ever take a day off
I don't take a specific day off, but when my body is really exhausted, I listen to it.
If you could give your younger self advice, what would it be
Believe in yourself. Don't worry about what other people think or say about you. Don't apologize for who you are.
What does fitness mean to you
It's a way of life. It's a way of connecting my body, mind, and spirit, and exercising each one of those every day.
What are you grateful for
I'm grateful to be alive.
