Welcome to the first episode of 2021! What better way to kick start it than with the incredible yogi Duncan Parviaine. This Canadian born yoges teacher is quirky, funny, determined and driven. Duncan has built an online yoga and movement platform called HOV (Heart of Vinyasa); it absolutely saved me during Victoria’s lockdown. His yogi knowledge is unreal but he doesn't take himself too seriously so you'll be in this intense hold and he'll crack a joke mid hold. There's not too many teachers out there like that. This is the last episode of our Chrissy series – can you believe it! Just one more week til Santa visits. I wanted this last episode to focus on goal setting for the year ahead.

I personally love to spend some time between Christmas and new year getting clear on what kind of energy id like to bring into the new year. So look at this as your “gee up” what would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? And go after that, chase that! Make this next year align to your core values and dare to dream big. What an honour it was to interview Denis, he’s been on my dream guest list since this podcast began. If you’re an Aussie then you’ll be familiar with his deep wonderful voice; from reading the news for 16th years and being on 3AW talk back for 21 years and doing Melbourne’s Carols By Candlelight for close to 50 years.

Righto; it's so easy to fall off the health wagon, especially now that we're in the full swing of the silly season! In the past I've thrown the towel in on exercise and healthy eating for the whole month of December, but i'm determined to make a change this year. So go easy on yourself and make movement part of your day; walks, yoges, even find an online class you love. Make it fit in with you and your lifestyle. And if you do happen to fall off the wagon then you've got a brand new day ahead of you tomorrow. My goal for you is to make movement easy for December, and that way when you click into 2021 goals you wont feel like you've got a huge mountain to climb from a whole month of indulging and no movement; incorporate it and make it work for you.

I learnt so much from this chat; Anita has inspired me to make small changes to lean into a more zero waste life. Her new book “A Zero Waste Family, in Thirty Days” is unreal, I’ve read it back to back. It’s full of simple tips and tricks than anyone can implement. Anita is a aerospace engineer, mum and just finished a medical degree, its safe to say she’s an overachiever. Facing family and friends you're not super keen on hanging out with; ok so i know this sounds like a downer of a topic but it's really not. It's just knowing when to be ok with a fun hang (that doesn't necessarily need to be deep). It's just as important to know when to stand your ground. As my therapist says. you've got to know when to draw a "fuck-it line" in the sand.

NEW EPISODE: Drum roll please; this must be hands down the most requested guest. We've been waiting for the lockdown between regional Victoria and Melbourne to lift so we can record this one in real life; please welcome the wonderful @emmylou_loves to the show! How to stay healthy in the silly season?! Well first things first, drop the guilt. Remember, food is here to nourish you and share with the people you love. So don't beat yourself up. Think about enjoying this mindfully, and enjoy them with someone you care about. 

We usually only really binge in private so know there's nothing wrong with a few treats over the festive season, just make sure you really enjoy them and it's a "shared experience" with the person you're having it with. 

Also remember this; Christmas is just one day. So you don't have to be indulging for a whole month, you can keep it to a few days. That said; it's easier said than done, today i went to get a coffee and saw my favourite local bakery have fruit mince pies (my favourite) and i didn't get one because i know i've got plenty of time between now and chrissy to enjoy fruit minceys. 

Take it easy, enjoy your chrissy treats but with people you really dig, make memories. Tune in next Friday for facing family, acquaintances and friends you haven't seen all year..
