Adam uses ego-state therapy to enable the conflicted parts to work collaboratively to create a safe place for her to be authentic and real again. 

Adam also creates a trigger to enable her to heal old traumas by suggesting that any affection she shows her cat will be showing love to the child she was that she never received.
