What happens when we wait for something outside of us to tell us we’re doing enough, we have enough or we are enough? It becomes a very vicious cycle. A cycle of being vulnerable, putting your hopes and dreams out into the world - and then giving ALL of the power…the “did I do good enough this time?” to something or someone else. EVEN THOUGH you have the power inside of you - EVEN THOUGH you have the capabilities to uncover, deep down, that the truth is that you are worthy and enough no matter what - you’ve given your power to someone or something outside of you. One of the biggest triggers my client’s face are pregnancy announcements. On our coaching calls, it goes something like, “I want to be happy for them. And I am!  Really Spenser…I am. But I can’t help but feel jealous and more alone than ever.” And without awareness. Without mind-body work… these announcements can make you feel like a human punching bag while on the journey to your baby. It can take you from love, confidence and trust -> to feeling like a popped, deflated, wrinkled up balloon, in T-minus 2 seconds. As a Life Coach, I see these kind of “triggers” or “set-backs” as opportunities for change and transformation. In fact, I like to think of triggers as the Universe shining a flashlight on these events, as an answer to your prayers. It’s what our monkey mind convinces us to do to protect ourselves from “getting our hopes up” – yet only keeps us stuck in re-creating our past. We don’t do it on purpose. Ever compare your body to the women standing next to you in line at the Starbucks and think, “Man, I wonder what she eats. How often does she exercise? What size is she really?!” Let’s be real, your monkey mind is making it mean that her body is more attractive, more healthier, more in control and that she’s happier than you right? Which creates the whole shaming-blaming-judging games which lead to depriving yourself or over-eating. And maybe even looking at yourself in the mirror…naked…and calling your body words I won’t even mention. All because of comparison. As you get conscious of the incessant need to compare that our culture/the media/the fashion industry has instilled in us, you realize that all of these thoughts your monkey mind is making up about her body in comparison to yours - isn’t really true. If you want to change the relationship with your body to either get pregnant or lose the weight naturally...it all starts with your thoughts.
