Moore's character must work out how to use the different packets and medical items in the kit on her own because the substance's manufacturers have not provided many instructions. The change is genuinely creative as Elisabeth, naked in a bathroom with white tiles, feels as though her spinal column is opening to allow her to give birth and her eye is turning double in its socket. When Elisabeth's twin appears and looks in the mirror, Qualley is the one staring back at her rather than Moore. The persona played by Qualley, who goes by Sue at first, immediately goes on the audition circuit to take Elisabeth's position on the aerobics show. There is not much new in "The Substance."

But this method enables us get to know Joe, which makes us care about how this story turns out—especially when the gunfire and bloodshed begin. Bautista has expanded his acting repertoire in recent years by playing parts other than "big guy crushes skulls." This appears to be a return to that, but Bautista also gets to try his hand at playing the romantic lead role in a romantic comedy. When it comes to that genre, he and Boutella might not be the first people that come to mind.

Terry finds a partner in local law clerk Summer (played by AnnaSophia Robb), who educates him on the sad complexities of a flawed judicial system.

Following a heated altercation, the woman returns to her original location. a radio astronomy facility where a group of people in informal, modern attire have been working for a millennium to retrieve the hard drive needed to turn on the telescope. The ridiculousness is satisfying, although not quite plausible. Still, it's stunning. It's obvious if the goal is to establish a completely different timeline in the vein of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek revisionism.

The initial three episodes have already surpassed the entirety of season one. I found the storyline surrounding Sauron particularly engaging. The costumes, the landscapes, and the performances are all outstanding. I appreciate the nods to the Lord of the Rings films, such as the three elven rings and Sauron's 'death.' It was a delightful experience.
