This episode is a conversation with Bill Smith, the Head Coach of the Donoho Falcons in Anniston, Alabama. Bill and I have been friends since 1993 when we coached at Muscle Shoals.
Due to our friendship, I have had a bird's eye view of his career and rise in the coaching ranks. He has coached some of the best players to come out of Alabama and Georgia. He was a part of the dawn of the Air Raid revolution in both states and coached record-breaking offenses as an offensive coordinator and head coach.
Bill is a part of several legendary coaching trees; he played college football for Bill Curry at the University of Alabama. Coach Curry, of course, played for Bobby Dodd at Georgia Tech, Vince Lombardi with the Packers, and Don Shula with the Baltimore Colts.
I hope you enjoy our conversation as two old coaching buddies sit and talk ball with each other.

This episode is a conversation with Daniel Chamberlain of Oklahoma. Daniel is a high school football coach in Oklahoma and the co-host of two great coaching podcasts: "The Football Coaching Podcast" with Joe Daniel and "The Coaching 101 Podcast" with Kenny Simpson.
Daniel has served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard for nearly 20 years and uses his military leadership training to coach football. He has written several articles on leadership and is now offering his expertise to other coaches.

That's right; you read the title correctly. Our guest today is Nigel Hadley, the head football coach at the University of East Anglia. Coach Hadley is a football coach, not a soccer coach, in England.
Coach Hadley was born and raised in the UK but was bitten by the American Football bug in 1974 while watching Franco Harris and the Pittsburgh Steelers on the tele. He has been coaching American football since 1996 and became the Head Coach at the University of East Anglia, in 2019.
Nigel and his team are members of the British American Football Coaches Association. You can reach him at [email protected].
I hope you enjoy this fascinating and informative conversation with someone who loves football as much as we do here in the States.

Chan Lowe is the head football coach at Leroy High School in Leroy, Alabama. To say that Coach Lowe has a unique situation in Leroy is an understatement. You will have to listen to the podcast to see how the only undefeated varsity football coach in Alabama is getting it done in a small town in southwest Alabama.
Leroy is a small rural school 60 miles north of Mobile Bay. Its football team has won seven state titles since 2004 and is 28-1 over the past two seasons, with two consecutive state championships. Lowe has been at Leroy since 2016 and took over the head coaching reins midway through last season.
This episode gets into some Xs and Os, but we talk and tell stories more than anything. We discuss the great culture in the Leroy community and how that has contributed to the school's success.
I hope you enjoy listening to our conversation as much as I loved talking with coach Lowe. You can reach out to him and ask him about how they have had such great success by emailing him at [email protected]

Jason Allen is the head football coach at Chambers Academy in Lafayette, Alabama. In the podcast, you will hear us pronounce the town's name, and yes, we are saying it right. It is pronounced Luh-FAY-et in East Central Alabama.
Chambers Academy is a small private school in east-central Alabama, about 30 miles from Auburn University. Coach Allen is not only the team's head coach but also runs its offense. The team has won three state titles since 2018 and 100 of its last 115 games. Allen has been at the school for 20 years, and they have won 87% of their games.
This episode really gets into the Xs and Os of Coach Allen's offense, which is rooted in the Delaware Wing-T but has evolved over the years to something quite remarkable and explosive. They build their offense around the Gap-Down-Backer blocking scheme and take the Power and Counter to another level.
Coach Allen talks about how they start teaching their kids the system as early as the fourth grade at the small K-12 school, and the kids grow up believing in the system.
I hope you enjoy listening to our conversation as much as I loved talking with coach Allen. You can reach out to him and ask him about how they run their high-octane version of Wing-T from the gun on Twitter/X @JasonAU25 or by email at [email protected]

Morgan Holden is a 38-year-old former Marine who loves football and the kids he coaches and teaches at North Valley HS. His passion for the craft is obvious in our conversation.
North Valley is a small school in the southern portion of Oregon. Coach Holden is not only the team's OC and QB coach, but he also coaches the defensive line for the Knights.
As usual, we talked about many different things, but we eventually got to football and talked about that. The Knights run the UC Wing-T, which is in my wheelhouse.
I hope you enjoy listening to our conversation as much as I loved talking with coach Holden. You can reach out to him and ask him about how they run his favorite play, the Quick Pitch, at [email protected]
