In episode 40, we welcome Caleb Simmons. He is the Winston County Yellow Jackets head coach in Double Springs, Alabama. In his second year at the helm, he guided the Jackets to their first 10-0 season since 1981. They finished the year with a 12-1 mark, the first 12-win season in program history.

We discuss how they made such a deep playoff run in only their second year with coach Simmons. They used a stingy defense and a ball control offense that relied on Gap-Down-Backer blocking schemes and many formations, shifts, and motions.

In episode 39, we chop it up with Troy Taylor. Coach is the OL/DL coach for the post-grad team at FUMA in Fork Union, Virginia. He was previously the HC of several HS teams in Virginia and has been an assistant at the college level.

In four seasons as a college coach, he helped recruit over twenty-five Division I transfers, coached the 2015 Willie Lanier Award Winner (Best Player in D2/D3 Player in VA), and went to the first NCAA D2 playoff appearance in twenty-four years.

He has twenty-five years of coaching experience, including thirteen years as a successful head football coach; he has established a proven track record as a leader of young men as an effective communicator with administration, parents, and students; has built a fantastic network with college football coaches, the media, and other high school coaches around the state; has received recognition on multiple occasions as Coach of the Year.

In episode 38, we talk with Tucker Pruitt. He is the HC of the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane in South Georgia. He was the QB for Fitzgerald in the early-2000s for his father Robbie, who was the HC back then. He returned home in 2017 to take over as the HC.

Since returning, they have gone 82-27 with three semifinal appearances, three visits to the state finals, and one state title in 2021.

In episode 34, we sit down with Brant Anderson. He is the RB coach for the Iowa Western Reivers in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Iowa Western has been one of the most successful junior college programs in the country over the past few years. They won the national championship in 2022 and 2023 and lost a close one in 2024.

Coach Anderson has also been a high school head coach and lends a unique perspective to coaching ball with his experience at two levels of the game. He is a former college fullback at Midland University, where they ran the Wishbone. We do some reminiscing about old-school smash-mouth football while comparing and contrasting it to today's game. Coach Anderson was recently inducted into the Midland Hall of Fame.
