I’ve got Dr. Rebecca Cohen back on the show this week in celebration of our newest collaboration. • How Rebecca returned back to her medical residency, 4 weeks to the day after having her first baby, to work 100 plus hours per week.
• By Rebecca’s third pregnancy, her cervix popped out, and she was told to just tuck it back in.
• At 36, her doctors recommended having a full hysterectomy, and 2 weeks before she was scheduled for surgery, she took the holistic pelvic care course that resulted in her canceling the surgery.
• Just because a woman gets sutures doesn’t mean she needs them, and as an OBGYN, Rebecca was trained just to give them all the time, even if women didn’t need them.
• How psychological tearing is okay and designed to heal an important part of the postpartum process.
• After learning about holistic pelvic care, Rebecca feels it’s a delightful coming home and a continuing decision to honor ourselves and our bodies.
• How when people have prolapse, they feel broken and how they screwed up somehow.

The Sovereign Sparrow: Flying Free After Wrongful Surgery

This week I have my sweet sister, Sparrow, back on the show to tell her redemption story. You may remember her from an earlier season, when she told us about her first birth, in which she transferred herself. She had felt confident in the transfer, thinking she could just go into the hospital as a seasoned birth-worker and get a catheter to empty her bladder. Instead, she was wrongfully diagnosed with HIV and forced into a c-section. It’s a brutal story, and so I’m especially thrilled to have her back on today, sharing this new story. Sparrow tells us all about her new love, her beautiful family, her sovereign birth, and her much deserved blissful postpartum.

Leaving the System as a Medical Midwife to Experience the Ecstasy of Freebirthing Twins with Bibi

Bibi became a licensed medical midwife at 19 years old. She had never heard of freebirth, but when she became pregnant with her first child it was an obvious no that she’d expose herself and her baby to ...well, where she worked.  This is an important episode, enjoy.

 -How Bibi freebirthed her first baby super fast with no pain or pushing, and the realization that babies could be born peacefully without crying, just looking at you. 

-How she hired (& fired) her private midwife during her first pregnancy after a scan came back with fibroids and she was told she can’t birth at home because she’d surely die 

-The negativity she experience after sharing with her 300,000 followers on TikTok that she planned to freebirth her twins. 

-The brief sense of fear that she could be having a third baby when she was birthing her twin placentas (it was that huge). 

-How after the birth of her twins she felt she was reborn as a mother, as a woman, as and as a midwife. -How birthing her children outside the system radically transformed her midwifery

From Anxious People Pleaser to Embodied Powerhouse: Heather’s Freebirth Journey

Heather discovered her unplanned pregnancy amidst a hectic trade show circuit, and she realized her life was about to take an unexpected twist. She navigated debilitating pregnancy sickness as she worked in corporate America. She had her first birth in a hospital, supported by a doula.

But Heather wanted more, she wanted better. The gaslighting she encountered from her medical midwife during her labor proved to be a pivotal moment in her journey, enabling her to find her voice and claim her life.

∙How to navigate intense mental states, anxiety, home birth fears, and gaslighting to find your voice and strength.

∙How Heather faced her people-pleasing tendencies, took responsibility, found a homeopath, and tuned into her body to regain health.

This week on the show I am finally bringing you the birth story of my son, Sawyer. I share the psychedelic journey that quite honestly, kicked my ass. This episode takes you from the start of my labor, which began with the pulsing of gorgeous mandalas in my third eye and takes you through the rather funny and oh-so-intense six hours of my mind-bending excruciating birth that left me flopped over some pillows like a dead fish begging god to just take me. The story ends with us happily snuggled in bed as a family of four, well five — my mom was there, and will pick up next week as I take you through my first 40 days of my postpartum, the highs, the lows, the mistakes and the epic joy.
